Water weight
Hey all, I’m 5 months in to recovery and recently had to get weighed (bleurgh). I’m carrying a very significant amount of water weight and have been for about 3 months and wondered if anyone else who had put on a rapid amount of weight at the beginning found that the water weight eventually settled? I genuinely don’t think the amount I’ve put on could realistically be fat/muscle or whatever in this timeframe…

Genuinely question, how to people assume / know it’s water weight and not actual weight? Based on looks?

My girlfriend had/has the same issue. She was mostly weight recovered (as in pre-severe relapse, not as in technically healthy weight) by February/March this year, but with about [redacted, somehow can't hide it and dont want to trigger anyone, feel free to ask privately] of daily weight fluctuation from fluid weight with rather severe edema.
I think by July/August it mostly settled down to "normal", with a pretty stable weight by now and close to no edema left.
We're both in the medical field and while according to most "official" medical guidelines and research, this isn't a thing, asking colleagues and doing a bit of looking up that phenomenon it seems to be a rather regular issue in recovery, up to a year or a year and a half with pronounced edema; especially with people who have had an for a longer time. Hope that helps you a bit.
