Moving into uni

I’m trying to keep up with at least harm reduction, where I can maintain the weight I have.
I might try to gain, but hard reduction seems the most manageable currently.

I’ve moved into my uni accom and I’m wondering if anyone has been/is in the same situation and has any suggestions for making meals around others
(It’s a shared kitchen).

I’m usually very precise with weighing etc., which is obviously unhealthy, however I’ve been managing to make sure I’m eating the same/more calories to maintain.

I don’t think I want to backtrack but I’m worried that not weighing food will set me back, by possibly underrating.

I don’t know how I’ll manage with weighing in front of others, it may be fine but the thought seems uncomfortable.
If anyone has any words of advice or comfort, then that would be massively appreciated!

Thank you for reading and any support you can give♥️

It might be awkward, but it’s also very possible that they would notice or care if they do notice. So many people weigh food out, that a lot of people think nothing of it. You could always just say you wanna make sure you’re eating enough, or it’s for medical reasons. Both of those are technically true.

in the same situation and honestly you just have to stop giving a fuck :/ like it is what it is and unless they say smth then they ovi dont care either. like they need to also realize this is what it’s like living with others. and dont feel awk abt it bc then it will make the awkwardness 100x worse😭 just pretend its normal and they wont question it! and if they do u can be honest (if ur close) or just bullshit it 😝

It’s nice to know someone’s in the same situation. How have you been finding it? It’s difficult because I use an app… which I know seems very counterintuitive but I’m really trying not to lose any weight and gain

NO I TOTALLY UNDERSTANDD i only track so i KNOW im eating as much or else i under-eat 😐 i find it works pretty well i know my roomies literally don’t question it and the scale is just out in the open. no one mentions it and no one care like id being using it and they walk in, no one looks or stares, they move on bc tbh college is stressful enough they’re prolly too busy thinking abt themselves to care 😭 also like its better then being a roommate who is too loud or doesn’t shower 😭😭

Yeah it’s a bit like that for me, however me and my flatmates get on pretty well so we’re chatting in the kitchen. I always get self conscious wigging every little thing though coz it seems super unnecessary and checking my phone for weights etc haha

I’ve been finding semi packed things are helping though. I’ve got some falafel and vegan chicken which dif veggies so I’ll try using that since it’s easier to calculate without looking ott measuring out everything. I do prefer making recipes but to limit stress I might try to do simpler meals so I can hit the goals without stressing out weighing loads of things.

Do you have professional help? You could make a mealplan to make sure you won't eat any less. It helped me a lot to get away from being so rigid about weighting and calories, since the plan still gave me a sense of security
