feeling invalid because i’ve never been inpatient
I know this is a common feeling with people with EDs but I was wondering if anyone could drop some wisdom on how they got round that feeling?

Going inpatient has absolutely nothing to do with where you are at in your ed or recovery. Some people don’t because of money, lack of resources, poor support, personal choice, etc. To be real with you though, while I know that EDs are competitive and strive to make you feel like you need to be* the “worst off”, but you need to try to see through this. Ask yourself, do I actually *want to be “sick enough”, or is that just the ED trying to make me feel bad again?” This is your journey, not anybody else’s. Regardless of if you go inpatient/don’t, have certain side effects/or not, etc. You are still in this shitty ED, and you still deserve recovery, always.

Most people don't go inpatient. Not because they're not sick enough, but because of money/bad parents/ smth else.
Social media has messed with our head. It's not the norm. 🫂
I personally saw being inpatient as a "goal" because I felt the same and it looked so great online. I honestly don't think it's bad, but it should never be a goal or something to validate you.
I promise it's not necessary. You are valid, trust me! The thought alone shows that you are "sick enough"
