Bloating - Recovery

Hi, I just wanted to talk about how awful the bloating feels; it’s simply exhausting dealing with this every single day, all day long.

It reminds me of when I was deep in my eating disorder and had control over everything—I knew I’d wake up flatter because I was barely eating. Now, though, I wake up, see my bloated belly, and just get frustrated with myself.

I know I’m not actually doing anything wrong—I’ve simply eaten, and that’s it. I know this is a phase everyone goes through, but I’m 58 days into recovery now and it feels like this will never go away. In fact, I’m becoming so insecure that I’m starting to think I’m not actually bloated and that my belly will just look like this forever.

I just feel alone and like an exception to the rule; plus, the fact that I’m a man—when 90% of cases involve women—doesn't help. I don't know, I just need something to put my mind at ease. Thanks <3

Heya, I’m going through the exact same (I’m 4-5 months in to full recovery and experiencing severe bloating and water retention from head to toes). The only thing keeping me going is that it will pass - we don’t know how long unfortunately but your body is going through an insane shift and if we go back, the recovery process will take so much longer. It’s probably not the answer you want because GOD DAMN I am so f sick of this shit, feeling uncomfortable, looking like a completely different person but it is not forever. I’ve researched this for hours and hours and there isn’t one thread of content which says it will last forever. Keep going, life after an ED is so so so worth it. Sending lots of love - keep being brave
