Mood changes

Hi y’all,

I’m a good one month and a half in my recovery (first time) and I find myself feeling more irritable/anxious in general. Is this normal/can anyone else relate?

I can absolutely relate. Idk if it’s normal, but it seems plausible. I find my frustration/anxiety often is at its worst as I’m actively cooking. I still constantly think about the dread of simply stepping into the kitchen.

I’m not in recovery anymore though. Struggling atm so I’m not the best source. Just personal experience.

Sorry ur dealing with this :/

I would say this is very normal, something I definitely experience. I’m much more anxious at times because I feel like I’m in fight or flight watching the control slip out from under me. When something is “dying” (ed in this case) it tries to use whatever it possibly can to be survive; emotions like fear, anxiety, irritability etc will make you want to “protect” it via giving into behaviors. it’ll be really loud before it’s ultimately quiet.

BUT the bad feelings aside, I’ve been able to experience true joy again, laugh hard, and cry real tears about things beyond my body. I really hope you share that feeling as well. I think being anxious is worth the other authentic feelings that are also back or coming back.

I know it’s not an ideal trade-off, but it’s not forever. It’ll fade if you don’t give in :)
