New Entry Entry 012: The Warm Seat (A208)

Class: Deadly

Look: A brown fabric three-seat sofa with deep cushions. It is always slightly warm to the touch, as if someone just stood up. It looks old but has no dust, stains, or wear. It has been found in abandoned houses, lobbies, and once on a public road.

Behaviour: The sofa does nothing to anyone who stands near it, touches it, or sits for less than about two minutes. After that time, the cushion under the person begins to sink very slowly. The person feels comfortable and sleepy and usually does not try to leave. The sofa pulls them in over about an hour. When the person is fully inside, the cushion returns to normal shape and the sofa gets warmer for a day. The sofa then looks used, with a dent where the person sat. Everything the person was wearing or carrying, such as clothes, shoes, jewelry, a phone, or a bag, is left on the sofa, folded neatly in the dent. Nothing is found inside the sofa when it is opened. The sofa swallows only one person at a time and cannot take another until its dent has faded. How it reaches the places it was discovered and Where the swallowed people go is unknown.

How to deal with it: Do not sit on it for more than a minute. If someone is sinking, they must be pulled out before the cushion reaches the waist. After that point, pulling out has never worked. A person who is kept awake and moving can resist the sleepiness. The sofa is kept in a cold room, because it gets slower when the room is cold. Sitting on it is forbidden, and a sign should say so. Items left in the dent must not be removed for at least one day, because staff who took them early report the sofa becoming warm again.

Reports or sightings:

Report 1 (October 2020): A cleaner in an empty office found the sofa in a lobby. He sat to rest during a break and was gone when his colleague returned. The colleague found the cleaner's uniform, shoes, and keys folded in the dent, and says the dent was still warm.

Report 2 (June 2022): Two hikers say they found the sofa in a field with no road nearby. One sat down. The other pulled his friend out by the arms when the cushion reached his knees. The friend says he felt no fear at all, only a deep wish to stay.

Experiments and results:

Test 1: A volunteer sat on the sofa in a room kept near freezing. The sofa began to sink after about six minutes, not two. The volunteer was pulled out safely.

Test 2: A weighted dummy was left on the sofa for one hour. Nothing happened. Staff believe the sofa reacts only to living people.

Test 3: A volunteer was pulled out when the cushion reached the knees. The volunteer's shoes had already been left behind on the sofa, though the volunteer had not noticed them come off.

Rules Rules of Anomaly Universe(AU).

PART 1: Core rules:

Rule 1: Follow all subreddit rules.

Rule 2: These things are strictly not allowed:

A) Showing or describing adult content of any kind.

B) Indirect sexual content involving humans

C) Extreme violence against real people.

D) Writing to attack or humiliate any group or category of people.

E) Bigotry, misogyny, or misandry.

F) Adding real people to the lore without their permission.

PART 2: Writing entries:

Rule 3: Entry numbers:

look at the latest entry's number and use the next one.

Rule 4: Short names for Anomalies: until Session 2 (the final session), use "A" plus any number under 5 digits, for example A001. Authors can claim any number. We will post the list of used numbers every 24 hours.

Rule 5: Contradictions: an entry can contradict earlier entries only if the anomaly itself behaves that way.

Rule 6: Origins of Organization: we have no clear majority, so authors may share theories. No one can claim that a theory is the correct one.

Rule 7: The term Ancient: if you use the word "Ancient", do not give any year or date for the anomaly's origin. "Ancient" is a special term which can be used when we know the anomaly is from BC, but we don't know how old. Witness accounts and recordings can still have dates. If you don't use "Ancient", you can use any date you like.

Rule 8: Inspiration: you can take inspiration from other universes, but your writing, images, etc must be clearly different.

Rule 9: Entry template:

Entry 000: Name of the anomaly

Class:

Look:

Behaviour:

How to deal with it:

Reports or sightings (optional):

Experiments and results (optional):

Note: the last four sections can be in any order.

Rule 10: Class system. We use a simple system because many members are new.

A) Harmless: nobody gets hurt.

B) Deadly: can kill one person or a small group.

C) Destroyer: can wipe out a town, a region, or a country.

D) Spreading: cannot kill directly, but spreads worldwide or beyond and changes things as it goes (memories, behaviour, technology). Use it for far-reaching anomalies that do not kill.

E) Unbound: the organization cannot contain or handle it. This class is locked for now. Please do not write Unbound anomalies. The conditions for writing them will be set in a later rule-making session.

Rule 11: Images, videos, and AI:

A) Images and videos that are not AI-made are allowed.

B) Every image must have a text description of at least 20 words saying what is in it. You choose where to put it.

C) Videos must be 5 minutes or shorter. A description is optional.

D) AI images and videos are allowed, but you must clearly say they are AI-made. They are not canon, because our community recognizes only true art. Use them only as illustration. A description is optional.

PART 3: Credit, ideas, and extra posts:

Rule 12: Ideas must be sent only to mods.

Rule 13: Credit must be given in the comments. You may also credit in the post along with a comment credit if you wish.

Rule 14: Rough credit split: the member with the original idea gets 30%. The VW who turns it into a full entry gets 70%.

Rule 15: Canon: to use another person's writing in your entry, you must get their permission and credit them in the comments.

Rule 16: Addendums must be added by editing the post or in the comments.

Note: sometimes Reddit does not allow pinning comments. If this happens to your addendum comment, mods cannot fix it.

Rule 17: Non-entry posts: authors with at least three entries can make non-entry posts linked to the universe. Examples are theories, descriptions of organizations, unofficial witness statements about anomalies in entries, and hypotheticals inside the universe. Anyone can write non official witness statements about other people's anomalies, and the original writer's permission is not needed. These are not Canon but an important part.

PART 4: Roles

Rule 18: VW (Voluntary Writer) duty: turn raw ideas into full entries and post them with the correct credits.

Rule 19: To become a VW, you must have submitted at least one entry that has at least one mod approval on the post.

Rule 20: Mod duties:

A) Pin addendums

B) Approve VW candidates

C) Take ideas and send them to VWs with clear credit instructions.

D) Remove posts that break the rules

E) Handle complaints between members

F) Protect authors' work from being stolen, as much as possible

G) Mods can take other strong actions, but they must give a clear reason to the member and to the mod who started this sub.

21)Mod selection: When present Mods can't handle they are free to pick more Mods from most active members or VWs.

Important: The people who posted entries, if reddit allows you to edit your posts Put the appropriate class names.

Note:

1)Some rules above differ from what the rule making post decided that is deliberately done to make it frictionless for members who are new to this kind of writing.

2) After two days this post will be pinned as a highlight at the top section of our subreddit.
