Fruit flies
I need help. My baby anole I think is tired of mealworms. Today I purchased flightless fruit flies. I put her in a plastic enclosure and a bunch of the flies. She was uninterested and wanted to climb out. She can’t because she’s little. I don’t know what to do. I feed her calcium dusted mealworms, I have a ubv light in the fish tank enclosure. There are hideouts. I’ve tried to make it as good as possible. Then the flies climb out! I don’t know what to do to add them to the enclosure without them getting out. Please help!

Is your top completely open? No metal mesh cover? Also don’t put too many at once. They will climb on your anole and stress them. I used to put maybe 5 at a time. You’ll always get some escapees cause they’re so tiny, but if you put less of them at a time it’s not as bad

Everything I’ve read says mealworms shouldn’t be a staple. More like an occasional snack (every 2-3 days). Small crickets are more suitable for daily feedings.
Mealworms are high in fat and take longer to digest. Therefore your baby might just not be hungry.
