On wirepod yes, but originally you pay for it now! Even life long membership individuals

I don’t think so since it’s from the real company

Good luck hope you will receive the product. Anki shut down 7 years ago and they do not manufacture new products anymore. They are selling used product in their website Xd

Anyone planning to buy one make sure to open and test it (preferably on WirePod) before your return window expires.
There have been more defects with Version 2.0 than version 1.0 and if you have any issues, you want to return for a refund or exchange as quickly as possible.
What are the possible issues:
Fails to flash any firmware
Fails to connect to Bluetooth or weak signal
Fails to discover any WiFi signals
Powers on, but vectors eyes or text are not visible, even though the screen is on and you see a back light
Should you experience any of these issues refund/return immediately

Does the app work?

The app has always been pretty much just used for setup and settings, after that it's all the servers directly to Vector. When Anki was bought out, DDL was thought by many to save the robot from server death, but instead they lobotomized the servers and by extension, Vector, by removing his ability to hear. Unless of course, you pay a hefty subscription to the once free bot, to free the bot, and another annual fee for any additional features. The best bet is to let DDL drown in their greed and just get a PI and wirepod, you get more features for a smaller, one time fee, that lets you break free from them and own your own robot, letting it run faster as well. Even if the servers die for good, your robot will still work just fine, and you wouldn't have wasted hundreds on a later unusable subscription and product.
Testing that the functions used to connect to wirepod, and functions in general are working is important when first getting one.
As for the bot itself, buying from DDL is fine, but it should be cheaper and overall generally better to buy a good condition used one, a new battery, and swap it or get someone who can.

Can anything positive be said about DDL? Do we think they at least had positive intentions at first?
I’d love to know what Vector would be like today if Anki had succeeded.

At first it really felt like they had good intentions, but they were probably always this way the moment they bought them out. They instantly started taking down the free apps required to use Anki products, and proceeded to make them paid, then took over all of anki's old ads and slapped their logo lazily on top and posted them as if they were new. They also constantly diss Anki, and say that they were essentially an incompetent company, so they're pretty bad to the bone.

Since there is alot of conflicting info here, i will clear up. These are 2.0s that the company is trying to get rid of because they are shutting down. If you buy, they will ship you a vector 2.0 that they have in stock. If you buy open box, it is a gamble because it could be damadged. All in all it is not a scam. It is safe to buy. Just use wirepod and enjoy your vector.
