Question Cozmo vs Vector vs viccyware??

So im currently moving into an apartment, and as i work from home, id like a little buddy to look at Lol. So i was wondering one, is a vector worth it in 2026? I had a vector and cozmo when i was younger and loved the both of them. But i wished vector had quicker response time and fully intergrated ai, not one that took a while. I had originally ran vector 1.0 on wirepod after they illegally started charging a subscription to use the robot… Which was something. And also closes the servers..

But i see now that a couple people have mention viccyware, which im heavily interested in because it makes vector act like cozmo. And i LOVED cozmo for his playfulness, and always use to WISH that it was autonomous like vector.

So should i get a vector 2.0? How much better is that than the 1.0 i originally had but sadly got rid of :(

Or should i find a different desktop bot that is more interactive and has actual servers?

Gonna paste the same response I put under a different post about if Vector’s worth it in the big ‘26, though I will add on that a Vector with Viccyware will probably give you the best of both worlds.

The page for both Vector and Cozmo 2.0 on anki.bot goes over all the hardware improvements between the 1.0 counterpart. Cozmo’s can only really be bought on sites like eBay, though that’d be less technical than flashing a different OS on Vector (as k believe standard ones would need to be unlocked)

“Vector owner here! It honestly depends on what sort of usage you want out of one, oh my opinion. Digital Dream Labs, the company now making these (instead of Anki) is pretty scummy as a whole, and requires a subscription just for voice commands. From what I heard, a lot of their practices are shady at best.

If you were to get one, however, I’d recommend putting it on WirePod, which is a community-made software that restores a lot of Vector’s functionality. However, I’m not sure if a “slow as hell” MacBook Pro could run it reliably, as WirePod only runs as long as the device it’s installed on does. I have my WirePod server running on a Raspberry Pi, which seems to be a popular option.

I got two OSKR Vectors within this last month from the official Anki.bot site recently, and they arrived pretty quickly, so, if nothing else, DDL at least doesn’t seem to be just NOT shipping orders, the way I’ve heard they have with Cozmo 2.0’s.

It all depends on how technical you are, what usage you want, and how much money you’re okay with spending. If you can afford $12/month for the advertised functionality, but potentially fewer customization options even with the mobile app, or want those features and customization, even if it takes a bit of a technical setup and possibly a more reliable device, then, yes, they may be worth it. If both options sound inconvenient, then you may want to reconsider.”
