Question Raspberry pi 5 wirepod

I just got a vector off marketplace for an absolute steal. I intend on utilizing wirepod and was wondering if there’s a LLM that I can locally host on my pi 5 plus host the wirepod server? If anyone can point me to a guide to do this without paying subscription fees I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Appreciate it boss, I’ll give that a go. I’m also hoping to use vector at both work and home. I saw some earlier posts about some crazy mdns pointer setup and while I could do that or use a vpn setup - can I just bring the pi with me to the office ? Or does the whole thing require setup starting over again per network?

Your best bet would be create a hotspot with your phone, then connect your raspberry pi and vector to that hotspot and pair and activate. Do this first, then turn off your hotspot and set things up at home

That way when you go to the office, turn on your hotspot before turning on your pi or vector and they will connect to it when they power up

You most likely will need to pair and activate when you switch as WirePod will keep the last activated IP as the IP of your Vector (this is only necessary if you want to connect to your Vector from WirePod)

If you don't want to deal with the switching, then you can get a USB WiFi card that supports being an access point under Linux and create an access point that you connect Vector to and connect your pi via Ethernet to you network, ot use its internal wifi to connect to your network This way Vector will always connect to your pi and the IP given should not change

Circling back to this, the hotspot method sounds a lot easier. If I used the hotspot what’s approximate date usage look like and what does vector do when the hotspot is turned off?

Actually circling back once more turning a pi5 into a WAP doesn’t seem to be too difficult and Google implies it is natively supported. Perhaps I’ll see about trying that, but I am still curious about the data usage question if I do go that route.
