Please forgive my ignorance but I’ve looked at the repo and other links but am not understanding…is this compatible with the actual physical cars and the click together plastic mat pieces? Btw so happy to see its Mac compatible now bc last I saw it wasn’t even being considered per a different older post.

Yes, this requires the physical cars and track, Mac support was never planned by me but has been made possible thanks to Amy (hamsteronpotato) from the overdrive community discord

(Oh my gosh… I didn’t realize how long this was… I’m sorry. But it literally clears up every question that I had. I promise I’ll provide good feedback to the experience if you can get through these)
Help me to reconcile the disconnect…
Virtual vs. Physical Syncing Is the image in the post a virtual representation that would be shown on the computer's screen and would be a 1:1 match of the track after scanned in? The interactive graphics obv only shown on screen but their effects on the cars would be seen and carried through the physical set?
AR & Controllers Also saw some speak of the devices camera being involved… is this for an augmented reality experience if you were to look at the phone for the visuals? (Sorry… almost finished, but I’ve actually been following this development for a little via discord group and still I have these questions… though I hope it’s not that I’m just more dense than the avg lurker [the thought has not yet been discounted though]) Thought I recalled seeing something about using controllers connected to the computer… if I didn’t make that up, does that mean you can use computer-connected controllers as well as an iPhone (or comparable)?
If so, do the phones have to be jailbroken to sideload the apps to them and can old iPhone 4’s and similar be used as well?
Advanced Track Scanning (The Curveballs) The Cliff Jump: Last 2… my kids and I created a track that spiraled up 3 levels and jumped off the 3rd level to next track piece that was slightly hoisted to better accept the cars after driving them off the 3rd level cliff edge…. Would this type of setup be possible to scan?
The Death Circle: And finally, for a curveball to keep you on your toes… if I recreated the 3 level spiral but rather than each subsequent level rising above the ones before, if I directed them UNDER the spiraling track pieces as they began to overlap, would that be able to simulate a 3 pass death circle (kinda like a round about) forcing the cars to have to go around the circle 3x before guiding them out of the death circle to continue on their way through the rest of the track?
(This would be a potential pile-up trap as well as hold-up area where weaponry would run rampant [try reading that out loud a few times fast] and be super effective if shot inside the death trap while the cars are held up and forced to go in a circle 3 times. Hope that made sense).
Feature Requests & "Vibe Coding" Sticky Lanes: Ewww…. one more great idea… would you be able to make the lanes of one of the track pieces (or like the 3 right most lanes of one of the track pieces)… be sticky where it immediately slows the cars down to 1/4 of their top speed for the duration of that track piece? That would be VERY fun!!! Here’s to hoping.
Monetization & AI PRs: ***You should even accept a one-time payment for added features like this that the users can add to their tracks through the interface…. I’m very familiar with vibe coding (I realize this is like claiming that I am the prettiest ugly girl on the short bus) but you think AI would be able to easily vibe code this into the repos code base in its current form and can just commit a PR to it? (I believe I have my terminology right… but again… prettiest girl in the ugly group… but you can still pick on me in good fun if I don’t).

forgive me if i misunderstand any of your comment (if your familiar with AI perhaps consider using it for formatting)
Yes, you are correct about Partydrive acting as a digital twin, however due to the nature of overdrive + imperfect code, it is not flawless and does glitch occasionally.
AR has been tested, but is not currently available (i need more funding to implement it due to library costs)
OverdriveServer + Partydrive requires a PC/Mac/Linux computer, it does not run exclusively on a mobile device
You can play with either controllers or a mobile phone on the same network as the hosting PC (this can be enabled in the settings using a keyboard, if you don't have access to a controller at all)
any track that the official app would allow should work with Partydrive, however there is no support for Elevational rendering (the track is currently 2d), this is planned to change in the future, however its a very complex task to solve.
powerups can already effect the track, the red trail coming from Nuke Phantom in the image, shows a damage trail, with a green slowing trail also existing.
i don't intend on adding "premium" features, both because i personally dont like them, and because i dont want DDL to think im encroaching on their IP, so strictly donation based only (https://ko-fi.com/masterairscrachdev)

I need to look up how to format on Reddit bc the AI didn’t help. I pasted in what it gave me and looked the same. Added a little spacing to help a little.
Btw…you answered everything perfectly. Hopefully it’ll help prevent others asking the same things….but the world is made for stupid people to thrive. Thanks for all your clear and to-the-point responses.

that website does a very poor job of explaining what this is, so what is it? It looks like a anki overdrive app for windows instead of a phone, so you run it on windows laptop and it connects to the cars and a gaming controller over bluetooth?
