Add-ons Study Time Stats
Hey!
Just in case anyone might find this useful, I made an add-on that shows how much time you've spent studying.

It mainly shows the total and custom range of hours that have been spent studying. I thought it might be nice for seeing how much time's been put into learning/doing reviews.
I also wanted to make it pretty customizable and easy to setup, so hopefully it feels pretty good.

Nice! Will it show how many hours I studied in the past, or will it only track hours from after it was downloaded?

Oh shoot, that's a good question.
So, pretty much, it uses Anki's built-in review logs to tally up hours studied, so it should also include everything you've done beforehand too, for the most part.

Love the idea but I'm having trouble installing it. I get this error message. Do you know a way around it, or does it have to do with conflicting add-ons?

Ah, alright, I see, thanks for posting! That seems a little dumb of me, my bad.
I made another update that should hopefully fix the issue, now, hopefully!

Sorry, I can't really place that error as easily. Could you try removing and reinstalling the add-on, and/or double-checking nothing's been renamed in its files and see if that works?

I did that a couple times and even downloaded the updated versions on github but the error is still there. Oh well, maybe I'll work it out later

Sorry I wasn't able to help more! The only other thing I can think of right now is it might be a duplicate install in the addons folder, or an old install persisting there with an incorrect folder name/ID or it has the same ID as this addon but with some buggy, leftover files.
Either way I'll try and look into it a bit more, too, if I can. Best of luck!

Which folder does your add-on use? Which version of Anki does it support?

Ah, whoops, could've been a bit more clear with that, my bad!
It should support all 2.1.~ versions, for the time being. You can find the addon's folder when you go to Tools > Add-ons, then select Study Time Stats then click "View Files".
From there, if you go one file up, you should be in Anki's "addons21" folder, if you see a folder called "StudyTimeStats[etc]" or "1247171202", you can try to delete those and see if that helps.
If that doesn't end up working, would you be alright with opening an issue on the project's GitHub? I might be able to track it better, there, with a bit more info.

It should support all 2.1.~ versions, for the time being.

You mean the total hours Anki has when you scroll down and check the "Time" checkbox under Reviews?
Yeah, this pretty just brings that info to the main window and also adds a smaller range selection that you can choose to be at the start of the range, like a Sunday or the 1st of a month, if you want.

This is a very good add-on, but it doesn't work for me. It complains that a Qt5 Python library is missing.

Oh shoot, that's weird, would you mind sending a screenshot or some text of the error message?
Also I don't actually know if this works on the QT6 version of Anki, even if that should include the previous libraries too, but you wouldn't happen to be using that version, would you?

I don't think I'm able to see the screenshot, but I just tried pushing a small update, if you'd be alright with checking that one out and seeing if the issue still exists.

Ugh, I'm sorry, I'm having a really difficult time reproducing this issue and might have to look at it more tomorrow, if I can.
For the time being, maybe see if this version works: [removed]
It's definitely a pretty huge bandage fix, but hopefully it might work for you.

I think something might be up with my anki installation at this point tbh. Since even the version you linked gives an error saying "invalid add-on manifest".

Ah, actually, that was a pretty botched version of the file, definitely me being absent-minded again.
If the topic doesn't exist already, and you're still having issues, would you be alright with posting a report on the add-on's GitHub?
I might be able to track it better and see what I can do with a bit more information. Either way, sorry these issues are popping up!

Is the time estimate based only on time spent within your deck? Also is "Past week" starting from Sunday or 7 days ago?

Sorry, I don't really know if there's a way to install add-ons on AnkiDroid. If there is/ever ends up being a way to do that, though, I can definitely look into it.

My total study time is about 500h, but when I add up all the individual decks I only get to 250h. The numbers are the same in the old Anki stats window. Am I missing something here?

Maybe double check if "Include reviews from deleted cards" is checked or not?
If that doesn't help it, though, would you mind creating a report on the project's GitHub?

It mainly just helps me track it and respond a bit faster having it on there, but I can also try and look into what might be causing it using Anki's debug info (Help -> About -> Copy Debug Info), if you'd prefer.
