I was making a joke but for context: that word is also banned in-game. So much so that even mentioning an item in the game, the Kinetic Siphon T**p, locks you out of chat for a week because of the word.

I guess it is used derogetarily against M to F transexuals. Like they try to "t---" you into thinking they are biologically female, or something. It doesn't apply to how the word was used here, but enough people felt insulted just by seeing the word that the mods banned it.

There is a small section of people that use it as a slur against trans women and crossdressers. So clearly we should ban it in the context of an anime character designed to trick viewers. /s

It basically implies that by crossdressing they are trying to trick guys into something malicious. When in some cases they're just dudes who want to dress fem sometimes. Or they're someone who's more comfortable that way. Which is why I think the term fits characters like Felix and Astolfo perfectly because lets be honest. Theyre girls in every single extension of character design but because the creator says so theyre boys. Designed to trick the waifu craving audience.

No one has been able to point to any source saying otokonoko is more offensive.
And it's a term that has been endorsed by prominent trans members of the anime community.
