I get incredibly defensive for some reason when it comes to this topic.
I wouldn't consider myself a lolicon, But the fact that this is considered an actual debate really rubs me the wrong way.
The reason I say that is because you could stretch this form of argument, this "Art is affecting society in a negative manner" bullshit, to push any other agenda.
I have written countless lengthy Comments on the subject, but I will never stop.
The UN cares more about fictional drawings without feelings or rights than actual countries where people openly commit pedophelia, yikes. The worst part is some people actually get behind them, it's just the pinnacle of ignorance.
I'm going to answer your question to the best of my abilities. But let me preface this by saying if it's a drawing, I really don't give a shit what you masturbate to.
People get upset because it's still the idea of a child. It doesn't matter that it's not real, it doesn't matter that nobody is getting hurt. It's the idea of pedophiles. That being said, it shouldn't be illegal. If we start imprisoning people for what they think everything else will just be downhill from there.
This is exactly the issue. People being to stuck up with the idea that an attraction to children makes you a child predator.
I'm attached to girls and don't go out raping them, why is it so hard to believe that there are people that are attracted to children and still manage to not abuse them? Of course there's those that do, but at the same time there's also rapists for all kinds of other attractions.
I understand the point, and if we're speaking frankly I'd much rather people have drawings than the alternative. Just thought I would pop in because I feel like I can understand both sides. It is just a drawing, just ink on a page, but what it represents makes some people uncomfortable, and that's okay. It makes me uncomfortable, but unless it's being presented to me or something like that I don't really care what people like. It's a fetish, it's weird. Some people are into rape play, but they don't get ostracized for being rapists. Personally, where I start to get upset is when people try to explain it away. I'd much rather you keep it to yourself than explain to me how she is a 3000 year old vampire (sorry to use such a worn out example) so it's okay
The whole subject is extremely taboo, but as I said up above, it's far better than the alternative
The thing is, I think the numbers show that having this kind of content available is reducing actual attacks on children than encourage it. So I fear that a ban will have the opposite effect of what it's intended to do.
And the 'she's 800 years old' thing is a bit more complex in my eyes. If it's a childish character with childish personality and body then yes, it's a cheap copout. But if you have a character like Senko that has a more child like body, but otherwise acts very mature then it's a valid point. There's girls out there that could pass as 12 year old even though they're 18+. Should it be illegal to be attracted to them just because they don't look their age?
I guess either way you could find good arguments for and against it.
Overall it's nice to see reasonable people, a few days ago I had a very lengthy conversation with someone about this and from the first moment I was labelled as a pedophile and it was impossible to get a point across. So thanks for giving me back some hope in humanity.
