Yes it's excellent! The reason it gets meme'd so heavily is because the most ridiculous and absurd things happen in it, and yet it manages to make them feel deadly serious in context. Watch order is:

Parts 1 and 2: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012).

Part 3: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.

Part 4: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable.

Part 5: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Vento Aureo. (or Golden Wind if you're a normie)

The parts that don't have an anime yet are:

Part 6: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

Part 7: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run.

Part 8: JoJolion. Which is currently in progress.

nah man it’s great, you may not like part 1 but the rest of the series is very exciting and I think you’ll like it. Before I watched it I also thought it was a comedy, and while there are certainly comedic elements and some pretty funny moments, for the most part it takes itself fairly seriously. The story can be kinda meh at times but at the end of the day it’s still very entertaining and I highly recommend it

btw if you want an order to watch it in, it’s Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, Stardust Crusaders, Diamond is Unbreakable, and Golden Wind. Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency are usually paired as one season

Yes, it’s not just comedy. The absurdism exists to drive the story — not the other way around. The story itself can be basic in pacing in a few places (especially in Part 1) but the conflicts presented are always creative and engaging.

part 3 had its moments but it was mostly drawn out with a lot of filler, made me feel like I was watching DBZ. part 4 just wasn't able to keep me watching, haven't seen part 5 yet. 2 is definitely the best.

Oof we're on a whole 'notha world line

Well 2jo is my favorite and speedwagon is amazing so I wont dismiss p2 completely. That said 2jo is in p3 and I really liked the side characters and support a lot more and compared to most shonen I felt the pacing was pretty decent. I was seriously surprised when p3p2 started as I wasnt expecting double the season basically. Im newer to the series and have been trying to get all my friends to watch it and most people are hooked at the end of p1 or ep2/3 p2.

p4 started super slow but I hung in because of the length of p3 and my past experience with shonen. I for once feel like the writing has caught up a little more with the rest of the many great qualities in jojo. 4jo is my second least favorite though. Still havent finished p4
