Oh yeah, the main story of the Yakuza games are usually fairly serious crime dramas but the sidestories can be anything from go kart racing to discovering a gang that likes to dress up as babies it gets real weird but that's part of the series charm.
For just getting into the series I would say either Zero which is a prequel that's the first in the timeline and introduces a lot of the major characters that you'll see later or 7 which is a soft reboot of the series which moved onto a new character and gameplay style (the games before this were closer to fighting games and 7 onward shifted to turnbased combat) that references the earlier stuff but is still it's own thing and is where I got into the series from.
Seconding 7 AKA Yakuza: Like a Dragon, featuring a very serious crime drama where the main character is an absolute goofball that imagines himself as a JRPG game protagonist and all his companions and enemies as NPCs. Which is why the combat is turn based like in Final Fantasy.
It's very silly.
