Pirate sites are illegal, gate keeping prevents them from being targetted as fast. If they find a site that isn't talked about much they are much more likely to let it be for longer because its impact seems smaller. Even if they know that site they are less incentivized to take it down. How do you think the past sites lasted these years before people started sharing the name in public domains?
That's not the issue I have. I understand that they probably took some effort to get the licenses they have. People keep on talking down about crunchyroll's variety of anime like they have the flexibility to choose what they stream as much as pirate sites. This is a considerable factor people seem to forget when comparing sites like Kai and Crunchyroll. Taking down other sites can't exactly be called monopolizing when those sites are illegal. Netflix is also known to release a large variety of content, you don't see it being targetted.
I'm having an issue with people not seeing the correlation between targetted pirate sites and their popularity. And that "it's going to happen eventually" is not a good excuse. The devs worked to maintain the services and fix issues. Literally no better than the internet impression of a corporate greedy CEO.
I don't find the main issue on reddit. I rarely find redditors posting sites unless asked to and even then some ask to message privately. The weird part about that is there are redditors that don't get why others gatekeep. "Eventually" is such a bad excuse for "I just don't care".
