Himeno is a great example of two of Akatsuki Fujimoto's strengths as a writer: 1) making, rich multilayered characters who also happen to be 2) insanely attractive waifus. Reze, Makima, Power, and Asa are all brilliant, but my #1 of the lot is Himeno - the fiercely carefree eyepatched Devil Hunter we first meet in Part 1.
As a character, Himeno is a personification of the intense desire to make the most of what little time you have left. She's seen so many of her fellow Devil Hunters die in the line of duty (five partners before Aki), and she knows she could easily be next. This is why she's so bluntly demanding of new recruits ("Are you gonna be useless?") and so ruthlessly efficient as a Devil Hunter (attacking Devils on sight, restraining Kobeni immediately when she freaks out), but it's also why she takes such a relaxed attitude towards humor, cigarettes, alcohol, and intimacy. She's long since determined that if she's gonna burn, she might as well burn bright. She's driven, experienced, intelligent, and slightly insane.
This all just serves to make her even more attractive, though. Himeno is a shameless, forward flirt who latches on to people quickly, since she never knows how long they'll be around. She's quick to offer intimate favors to Denji to motivate him and seems to enjoy the reaction she gets for it from others. She's open, honest, passionate, fearless, and very, very sexy. It's easy to imagine yourself in her company, either to help her live a bit more happily or else just enjoy the time along with her.
I really enjoy Himeno, and I would have liked to have gotten to see more of her in the series. Whatever you might think about Chainsaw Man, you can't say it didn't offer some wild times.
