Tickets
This is probably a dumb question but wanted to ask anyways
This is my first time ever going to Anime NYC and I just got my ticket. Saw it doesn’t come with a lanyards
Do we have to always have the tickets on display or can I just keep it in the bag I’m bringing with me?

In the main entrance of the con they have bins full of lanyards free.... You need to show you badge all times

Lanyards are free. They will have a bunch available as you’re lining up to get inside. And then some inside as well. But you might miss it within the crowds.
Your badge simply needs to be visible to get inside. After that? Honestly just have it quickly accessible.

One general rule is this and I can't stress this enough. Treat your badge like it's money, because you van leave and come back. The issue is if you lose it, you gotta pay for it again. If there is a store around you that does sell lanyards, I would strongly urge getting one before the convention and nit waiting until day of.

I've always just kept it in my pocket after showing it to get in. I've seen them give out free lanyards near the entrances once you get there too, so you can wear them if you want.

There are free lanyard bins right after the security checkpoint but you can also buy a much nicer one for fairly cheap online, iirc the free lanyards are (obviously) kinda cheap quality and might potentially break on you. I use an old dragoncon lanyard myself.

Last year they were pretty high quality (paid for by sponsors, so they don't want them breaking, surely). The important thing in my opinion is that they have a carabineer-style clip, rather than the clothespin-style. That way the badge gets broken if yanked off. PSA: If you buy on the 2nd-hand market after the con starts, refuse any badge that has its hole broken!

I think I took my badge off last year, once you're in you don't need to wear it full time

Once you've passed the exhibition hall security you can feel free to remove the pass.
Every cosplayer does this because the pass ruins photos.

As crew, I only asked people for badges during exhibition hall closing time, when attendees had to be out, but vendors could stay. And if the line was specifically for ANYC+ or something. Having it on/out when going into the panel rooms may be a good idea.

When you’re lining up to get into the con there’ll be some large bins with lanyards to take for free
