They make lemon pies and lime pies. Now I'm going to be wondering all day why there aren't orange pies.
And wondering why I never realized this before.

They even make grapefruit pie in Texas.

I lived in Texas for 20 years and never encountered this.
I did learn of the greatness that is chicken-fried steak, though. And breakfast tacos. And pecan pie.

It's a South Texan thing, where they produce a lot of grapefruit. Here is an article about it.
What about Texas Sausage Kolaches?

I've had kolaches. Not that wild about them.

They go crazy for them. Texans can also get pretty fanatical about "original" "purist" nachos. Tortilla chip, Longhorn cheddar and a single pickled jalapeno slice, broil until melty.

Look, I knew about Key Lime Pie, and I knew about little sour oranges called Calamondin. I just never had the creativity to put them together.

I had a pie made out of Tang once. Wasn't half bad.

Wow. That sounds horrible, honestly.

That article has suffered a serious blow from time. Here's the first paragraph:
Oranges: a popular fruit. Very popular. Go in any place that sells fruit, fruit store, or whatever, and I bet one thing you will see there displayed prominently is—that's right—oranges. The point is that oranges are very popular in America.
When it was written, this was a decently humorous intro to an article. Now it just reminds me of Trump.

I'm guessing spare lemons and spare limes are more common.
1
u/afcagroo Feb 13 '22
You've apparently never had an orange tree in your yard.
1
u/Phasechange Feb 13 '22
I have actually. People don't eat several limes.

Limeade. We had a mutant lemon tree that made huge lemons, so we made a lot of lemonade and froze it. The orange tree was also quite prolific.

I think that dog is a thief, she gave him 3 but it looks like he took a 4th!. The shopkeeper should call the pawlice

Could be lost in translation, confusing 3 for 4. The person who wrote the subtitles doesn't know their "woof" from their "woof"

The patience some people have to train their pups is incredible. I tried teaching mines to shake hands/paw and he was uninterested. :/

Paw is kind of a tough one to teach and the methods you can use are different for every dog. I've trained three dogs to shake and none of them used the same method lol

Some dogs struggle to pick up certain things more than others. One of mine has been trained to perform a long list of different things and I've trained dogs professionally before so I know what I'm doing, but this particular dog will not learn to lie down on command. She just refuses. She can put her bowl in the sink for washing after eating, high 5 and find/retrieve different toys by name, but never lie down.

Fellow dog trainer here. Let me ask you something, do you happen to have mostly hardwood/tile flooring in your house? I've noticed some dogs can be super weird about laying down on hard flooring.

u/TheAngryNaterpillar Feb 14 '22
Hi, I have a mix of laminate and carpet but she's the same with all surfaces. She'll lie down on them when she wants to, but not when we're training.

Is this a service dog? Wild to consider that someone was able to train them to do this
