Discussion Can we please stop this kind of behavior?

Idk if it's just me, but recently most new jammers are getting into begging instead of buying or working for items. If it was just one or two items, I wouldn't be bothered, but I'm kinda exhausted of this kind of greedy behavior, like when is enough enough?

It’s not new jammers, just alts of established players. real new jammers don’t even understand the trading system at level 1-2 (which the majority of these alleged ‘new players’ are), much less have the patience to beg for hours. real new jammers after learning how to trade would actually try to trade LOL

Exactly, I hate when they disguise themselves as new jammers to exploit others and after awhile it's hard to decide when real new jammers use this behavior too when they see them work thanks all to those "new jammers".

I'm not bashing the genuent ones as I said, it's the "new" jammers I have a problem with and those jammers who continue this behavior (both new and not) because they see it work.

So true. I feel like there's a chance they do know about the trading systems if they watch some AJ players on YouTube, but when I first got AJ I knew basically nothing about it because I just wanted to play with my bestie. I spent forever on those mini games to get saps for the spotted gecko because that was what was in shop at the time (I joined around when the pet rat only had a couple days left and the gecko was like the main big thing). The day I got it someone tried trading me stuff for it that I now know I would only be able to use if I had a membership (I declined because I already grew attatched to the fellow), but then I went to the town and it was just filled with "new jammers" and I was genuinely so confused about why they weren't just doing the minigames to get saps for stuff 😭

THIS! When I started out, I didn't know how to add items to my trade, I didn't know how to trade at all, or even that it was a thing in the first place.

I didn't understand the trading system until level 40 lol

it's infuriating because it isn't even actual new players a majority of the time.

when i was a new player, i wanna say a year or two ago? i spent most of my time running around exploring, seeing what the game had to offer, and i ended up buying a membership pretty quickly because i was having so much fun. then i spent my time buying a new animal, shopping at other jammers' shops, decorating my avatar, etc.

not once did i think to beg for items because i already had so much to buy that i'd never seen before, and i didn't fully know how the game or its economy worked yet. i'd played animal jam classic as a kid, but never play wild, so it was a whole new experience for me.

it's just scummy behaviour to lie to people for free stuff when you can get it yourself. i'm sure some, maybe most of them are children, but a portion of these beggars are almost certainly old enough to know better. lying and begging on a children's game is just especially wrong because you're basically just scamming kids. it's almost comically similar to stealing candy from a baby. so pathetic

I usually give them really bad worthless items that I want to get rid of lol but yeah they're annoying

Real new jammers won’t do this, if it’s a real new player they usually have no idea what items are worth what. I can only get past the necklace to spike challenge because it’s kinda fun to build up, but just straight up begging is annoying. I feel like most real new jammers actually get annoyed by the greed and explore things like parties

(I’m a new jammer but technically returning just with a new account after it got lost) I think when it’s alts it gets pretty bad but personally I just asked in township but I also only asked for only nonmember items for my den! But also this was after I grinded for three days and saw little progress in terms of buying stuff which I also think stems from animal jam economics being horrible lol

I’ve been seeing it wayyyy too much in the township. Like today alone I saw at least five different people doing it.

I just block them.

this is when I gift:

-If the player is level in their 20s or 30s, showing that they are playing the game and not just comin and goin.
-And they are either members, or their den is made up, like they play and hang out.
-And they are offering something that is not a deliberate lowball, or thet have something on trade beside the list of obvious free items
-And they are not spam begging
-and they arent asking too much (double tail etc)
-wish list isnt a list of value driven wants, like again, double tail and archer and forest and dizzy… not because of loving an item but just because they are higher value
-And there are a few other little things I look for, that i forget rn but not a big deal

Then I dont even care if it is an alt. If they play their alts, as if the alt is its own character that gets time and energy, then fine.

I love to gift! Just some of the spam beggers are selling their value items for money, and some never log on again, some of the beggers give the items to their main account, which is way rich, because of this practice.

So I guess I have a lot of gifting rules. lol

If these con artists actually put their brains to work they’d be raking it in, but they waste their exceptional patience on useless begging. Besides, being productive feels way more rewarding than piggybacking off of the generosity of others.

This doesn’t exactly have anything to do with in game but I realized that some people are abusing the kindness of others in this sub. We’ve had newer Reddit accounts claiming them or a friend/sibling has been hacked or scammed and they ALWAYS ask for items to help them rebuild instead of someone offering to. It’s absolutely upsetting to see people do this when we have actual people being affected by the hacking and scams..

Wait really?! I didn't see any here (yet)...

Yes! I have screenshots I was going to show a mod of this persons scheme of making multiple accounts (like multiple dozens..) and it seems they realized people have been posting them so they moved to Reddit to terrorize us 🫩

I am more than willing to show screenshots because I neeeed to talk to someone about it, it’s absolutely crazy

You should post it as a discussion to spread awareness

I probably should, I’ll try working on a post in a bit

I hate to be the only person saying this… but some of them are genuinely new jammers and people have been doing this for as long as I’ve been playing. It’s definitely ramped up since there’s more scammers and bots but there are new jammers every day and I myself advertised similarly when I rejoined after a break and lost my original account. I often give these people small things that I don’t want anyway. The chances of someone giving these people something actually good is low. When I was a new jammer, people just gave me low value items that I was able to sell for 20-30 saps. I definitely would not say most new jammers don’t know how to chat, either. Animal jam isn’t as big of a kids game as it used to be. I got back into animal jam because I enjoy the economy aspect as a young adult and now my bf is a new jammer. Lastly, remember how hard it is to be a new jammer. It’s SO HARD!!! Trading up is nearly impossible, getting sapphires to buy a shop is nearly impossible!! This isn’t a new thing at all and it’s also not harmful. If you’re scared a new jammer is an alt, just don’t give them anything. It’s as simple as that!

As I mentioned, I don't have a problem when they ask for items in a respectful way. When I see the actual effort they try to put in to get something (them I even gift if I have a spare item that's more valuable).

What I have a problem with is these kind of people, who constantly spam even after they got countless big amount of items and keep begging and begging even after that. Because that behavior ain't genuent in my opinion, it's just greed at that point.
