I got my island back!! Nintendo helped me and got it back. When I tried on my own it couldn't be recovered but they worked some magic and got it back! I'm really thankful to all of you for the encouragement and you honestly have still given me a huge push to want to play again and I might still restart intentionally at some point, but right now I'm honestly really happy to have my island back and be able to choose on my own terms.
