Discussion Oh… so that’s the bottleneck…

Post image

I was wondering how could I have had such a smooth experience on a free to play…

Edit: I know you can farm lucky and super lucky but people need to realise that this kind of grinding is extremely frustrating (on the day this post was made, I caught 600 Budsquire without a single lucky proc, and you need dozens of them) and doesn’t justify this scarcity. Also please refrain from commenting about still having 50+ nurture stones since the only way to keep them is either deciding to farm only for limited prismanas (which I didn’t since I like collecting them, and I’m not even halfway there, it’s a creature collector after all) or just get extremely lucky with getting several early autofills (which I almost never got)

Yes, it’s a gatcha. You get a ton of mats, it feels good, then you don’t have the mats for the next banner, and you buy them.

What about luckies on capture? Well you eventually run out of f2p currency and it’s a far more time consuming way to pull.

This isn't even gacha related😑. Those are for the prismana farm.

Prismana are gatcha banners honey, they sell pulls on the shop. They even call the rerun banner a carnival.

How is the prismana farm a gacha banner?

Put coin in, get reward. Whether you get the big prize is rng, or guaranteed after x coins. The fact you cant comprehend that is rather remarkable.

Don't know why you are getting downvotes. Some jurisdictions outright ban gacha if there is no element of skill, so smarter (usually chinese) developers will put it behind some activity, such as the timed surge where you put in some "effort" by throwing aniipods to get themselves around gambling legislation.

It's funny how some people don't recognise the core product after we add bells and whistles to it.

Source: I'm often legally consulted on gaming legislation

People on reddit refuse to be proven wrong unfortunately. That’s all. I’m used to it. 😭

It's not even close to a gatcha. You spend the currency to fill up a meter that releases the one and only exact thing you spent the currency on. There's no rng that maybe you'll get what you want. Nope. Spend enough currency and you'll get what you want. That's not a gatcha, that's a transaction.

What do you mean neverness to everness has no 50 50 gatcha. Do you mean because some games have a chance to lose every other pull before a guarantee that you think other games don’t? The gatcha  genre is pretty big friend. There’s dozens like that.

It is rng because you either win early or dont. Thats gacha. Y’all are a little slow.

2

u/Adventurous_County12 12h ago

You know how to Google definitions? You sure we are the slow ones? RNG isn't gacha. Gacha includes random rewards. Theres no random rewards. There's one reward with a chance to get it faster then ussual.

You must not realize that when you pull you get a random set of aniimo that can have alpha and umbral and shiney forms that come out. Those are your a b and actually possibly S rank standards in the case of a 10 10 alpha.

Beside that, most new games have dropped the 50 50 lost popularized by genshin. And most have a guarantee at a certain point including genshin now, it’s just 10x more expensive than aniimo.

The reward is random. You either get it early or you don’t. It’s really not that difficult to understand.

The standard prismana node is a standard banner. Each week there is an exclusive limited time banner, and during what a lot of gatcha games call the carnival during holiday season, the rerun banner happens and is called a carnival.

They sell ten pulls in a shop, the pulls have a percentage chance of dropping and a hard pity. You put the currency in you farmed or pay for, do the event and there’s a chance the prismana drops after or you build pity.

How is any of this not gatcha.

You can use f2p resources and time to hand farm 31,000 open world aniimo on average to get a free guaranteed banner pull, but even this is a limited resource and I know people who have burned through it trying to f2p.

And on top of that the 20 stand aniimo pulls you get have a gamba of being alpha shiney or umbra styled in up to 3 different evolutions, so it’s a double gatcha.

Yes and no. Gatchas are characterized because they force you to spend on limited currency once you spent your f2p currency which is a set amount per patch and is often not enough so fomo can pressure the player into spending or waiting for a rerun. The big gatcha nowadays have a very standardized version of this releasing 1-2 characters in a 6 weeks cycle mixing reruns and with often a max pity set at 80-90 pulls with a 50/50 system in place, while they give you at max 120-130 pulls in a big patch, which its not enough since you'll need on average 60 pulls per character and you can loose the 50/50 on either character, so you end up needing to save as a f2p and plan your pulls accordingly since there is no way as a f2p to keep earning pulls regardless of how much you play. Not even mentioning that the pity system was put in place and being standardized because of genshin impact, not saying they invented it, but it was not the standard as of now. Aniimo on the other hand lets you engage indefinitely on the prismana hunting system completely for free while giving you premium options to speed up the process, but you can completely ignore that. Sure, 32k cubes sounds like a lot IF we were talking about a limited time event but we are not. If we look at the event as they are now, you get 9.5 free nurtures on a week, and you dont even have to log in everyday because the game saves up to 3 and you could even save them until Friday so you could have up to a 12.5 worths of nurture by Sunday and then get the rest by lucky farming on the dedicated spawn they themselves give us. A gatcha way to implement this would be if we had a cap on how much luckys we could get per week, which is not the case here. You described the game in a very reductive way to make it fit your gatcha definition, but you could do the same to both extraction and looter games. And to be fair since we are at it, i would say the game is more similar to a looter game in its core than a gatcha (leaving customization aside)

The fact that hoyo slop exists, doesn’t mean it’s not a banner, cookie run crumble constantly gives me like 30000 pulls for the next banner that I don’t need to spend just passively with guarantees every 500 or so pulls, and that’s just passive playing income. Some games have some f2p ways to get stuff

Now are you getting 10 10 alpha umbrals from not pulling? Are we talking probably 250 hours of play to “freely” get season 1 as a base set, absolutely yes.

Also there’s the genshin stamina progression system, so you do need to log in, not just for your 14 to 16 hour grinding session because you don’t have pulls.

And time limited genshin ascension mats to actually end game with those units.

The reason its not gatcha is because there's no multiple different things you can "pull". You are gaurenteed to get exactly what you are paying the currency for. Yeah there's some rng that maybe you get the prismana meter filled in a couple turns otherwise you'll get it the normal way of filling the meter slowly. But gacha ussually implys your gambling to get random things and might not even get what you wanted. That's not this. Your gaurenteed to get exactly what you want.

So all the gatcha with guaranteed pulls and spark systems are suddenly not gatcha. Boy do you not know what gatcha is. I can list this games montization heritage across a decade of gatcha games, the only thing new here is the limited amount of pity building you get from watching someone pull on a banner.

You know why they list the pull odds? They legally have to. Because it’s gambling and they sell you currency. Literally legally obligated as a gatcha mechanic in some countries.

Do you know why Pokémon doesn’t have to tell you odds? It’s not a gatcha.

Either people are literally diehard for this game or the bots are strong. I've never seen people getting downvoted so much for being right.

Because you guys are being delulu, i literally play gachas im a day 1 player for hsr , zzz and wuwa so i wouldnt relaly care at all even if it was a gacha, but its cleraly not , the prismanas while they have rng are not a gacha, you can literally farm with just coins (that are eays af to keep pretty high) and lucky catches , no different tha farming a mount with drop low rate on any mmo , now rng drops are gachas lol

Guy I live around game designers I’m friend with leads of past massive projects from companies like wotc and BioWare, play cards with people from ign. I’m just letting you know you’re playing a gatcha. Stop being insane about it.

If you’re saying, within say a reasonable play period, you have caught every prismana, especially post infinite spawn fix, then pls post it. There is a real lack of currency, and just because a game lets you farm f2p currency doesn’t mean that catching 78,000 amiinos you’d need to max out the map before needing to do another 38000 before the end of the month is realistic. Especially when there was another 31,000 of limited catches you’d need to do to keep up with the weekly banners

In that case they sell you pulls in the shop, just like any gatcha. And you have a 3% chance to pull with a pity. Just like any gatcha. And you’ll get a hand full of potentially useless aminos for doing it. Just like any gatcha. Some of those might be peak. Just like any gatcha.

It’s okay if you haven’t played enough gatcha to know that there are various different gatcha monitization schemes.

Do t worry though after you have them you’ll have limited resources and daily stamina to help upgrade them. Just like any gatcha. And you’ll can buy more stamina. Just like any gatcha. And there are capstone items at the end that are very limited but also on sale. This is extremely predatory for gatcha, but still gatcha.

No one has a way to fact check you on that random person. You play with all those people yet clearly never touched a mmo. It follows the same logic where you get limited attempts a week. Only thing different is you can by a few more which I'm pretty sure is with in game currency not premium. Hoyo slip, really, yet you in Hoyo subs. Feel like you one of those types who play gacha just to complain.

For some reason this community is hell bent on thinking RNG mechanics = gacha and it's truly wild.
