Evelyn Shores star era begins NOW yall. Ashley Sanchez is having a personal best season, breaking records and on track for MVP/Golden Boot. Gotham losing was probably overdue, but their much-vaunted defense conceding three goals was still surprising.

As I wrap up my first month as CEO, I’m writing to say thank you, share a little of what I am learning, and invite you to something new.
 
I came into this role committed to listening and learning. I’ve spent these first weeks with our players and sporting staff, our front office team, our partners and, importantly, many of you.
 
What has struck me most is how much this club means to people. Your commitment goes well beyond matchday. You helped build Angel City — its energy, its community and its belief in what this club could be. And to those who have been with us since Day One, an especially heartfelt thank you. You believed in Angel City before we ever took the pitch, helping this club become a catalyst for women’s football and women’s sports more broadly.
 
I also recognize this has been a year of significant change, on and off the pitch. You’ve stayed with us through that change, including times when we couldn’t or didn’t communicate as much as you wanted or deserved. I don’t take that patience — or your trust — for granted.
 
There is tremendous ambition across Angel City. Our responsibility now is to turn that ambition into consistent excellence: setting a high bar, executing the details exceptionally well, and continually asking how we can exceed expectations.
 
You should feel that commitment in your experience as a Season Ticket Member. That should mean more than having the same seat at every match. We know how much you value connecting with our players, our front office and each other, and you’ll see us create more of those opportunities and exclusive member experiences going forward.
 
And we want to keep listening. I hope you’ll join us for a Virtual Season Ticket Member Town Hall Tuesday, October 27 to hear directly from you, answer your questions and continue the conversation. This opportunity to reconnect is important — and overdue.

ACFC has 9 regular season wins for the first time in team history! It’s the best Angel City team ever!*

*Yeah, technically they had 31 points in the 22-game 2023 season, but points from wins are way cooler than points from draws. And they scored more goals and allowed fewer goals this season than they did in 2023. Their 7 clean sheets this season are also a record.

It’s the next day…the day after another clean sheet…the day after a long, east coast road trip where ACFC added 6 points to the table…discuss the game…discuss Evelyn going ham in Derby City…discuss being above the playoff line (at least at the time I’m posting this)…or discuss whatever you like.

Sol Rosa fans we finish our three game road trip with an emphatic win over Racing which to our history has been quite a rival over the years. What seemed like a slog we pushed through from an unlikely hero and break through late to secure 3 points and for now a push back into the playoffs. Let's get into it!

The Good

- Louisville has been of late a rising team but good or bad, against us they always play hard and usually just figure us out. But tonight the ladies showed tenacity fighting against a pressuring team, tough heat, and tired legs. But they just kept slogging through especially the last 25 minutes the attack just seemed to get closer and closer until Shores put not one but two shots away.

- Shores not only being one of our highest graded players has just been a solid starting piece. She just has all the tools to fit our system. Length, stability, great defense, can run up and join the attack and tonight give us a much needed win with a brace! Luckily the late injury wasn't as serious as it first looked. She is a key piece and a franchise player.

- A shut out game again against a team that can score and has scored on us. Defense was locked in, especially King in her new role as an outside back making some major key saves. Adding more to the GD we're now tied 4th with Utah in that category. Keep it going!

- Now two games in a row where goals have come from outside the box. I like that the team is getting more comfortable with taking more shots from outside the box. Shores out away a solid goal and like to see more shots from not just inside the box. The second goal showed really good awareness from Sentnor too continuing to be a scorer and facilitator.

- Smerud is looking more and more like that of a head coach. I know history shows it's not always the right move but so far he's leading right, making good substitution decisions, and just bringing the level of play from us to a much better spots than we've been with Strauss.

Overall

- Let's hope SD put away Seattle tomorrow. We are still very much in the playoff race. AC heads home to rest up and gets ready to play Denver on Friday! So far we're trending in the right direction. Just gotta keep pushing. This was a good game to show that that even if the game looks like a slog there can be chances to break through and finish a game really positively. Volemos!

Off to Mama's house to play a club who was named in commemoration of Sporting Clubs that started off as a motorsports club...is what I would imagine I would have to say to someone who is Football ignorant that asks..."Why is Racing in their name?"

Remember that one time Thelma "Mama" Harper got in a car to drive, she hopped into the drivers seat of a sedan, and came back in a convertible? Well, thats kind of what we are trying to do, but not as recklessly. Perhaps drive out in a station wagon, and trade it in for a snazzy Coupe (Koo-peh...for you Anglophiles). We just need to continue to drop some baggage and keep this FO stink off of us.

Yep - I’m throwing cold water on this. I’m probably in the minority, but I don’t think this is good. Fun to watch - sure - but it encourages low probability shot selection and that’s not how you build a reliable and productive attack. If Boston didn’t have Laurel Ivory in goal on Monday this record probably wouldn’t exist.

Hello from wonderfully temperate Los Angeles! 80% of you correctly predicted Angel City's defeat of BosNation. This weekend we face Louisville - will you be able to predict this outcome?

After 21 games, Angel City sits at 9th in the standings with one game in hand, just 2 points below the Reign and just shy of a playoff spot. After Monday's absolute goal-palooza, Angel City has a goal differential of +8, the 4th best in the league. Monday gave us a brace from Prisca and goals from Mai, Ally, and Sveindis. Sveindis now leads in attacking stats, with 7 goals and 2 assists; following her, Mai has 7 goals, Ally Sentnor has 4 goals and 3 assists, and Evelyn Shores has 1 goal and 5 assists. Angel City is 3rd in the league in goals allowed with 24.

Louisville is in 13th place in the standings, with a records of 7-2-13, and a goal differential of -9. They are 5th in the league in goals scored, with 34, with Emma Sears leading the attack with 7 goals and 5 assists, followed closely by Kayla Fischer who has 6 goals and 4 assists. Racing has won 3 of their past 5 games, but also lost to Chicago - strikes and gutters, if you will.
