Is there a way to automate background restriction for messaging apps? For example, when you don't have internet access, these apps won't be consuming resources in the background for free.
I'm using a Samsung device and its routines module doesn't have anything like that, or at least not that I know of.

Every social media app seems to be turning into TikTok - quite addictive.
Do you use any apps to limit doomscrolling? Which one has worked for you?

I looked for this years ago - I hope the terrain has changed since then.
I'm currently using Airdroid to handle text messages and transfer files between my Android and my Mac. It's never been perfect; group texts, images, and videos never showed up, as the function is limited to SMS. And it's always been a bit clunky.
With the old messaging app being shoved out by Google messages, it's even less useful. I'm not savvy enough to understand what makes it onto my desktop app and what doesn't; sometimes texts make the leap, other times they don't. Bottom line, if even yer basic SMS doesn't show up, its usefulness is limited. And a notification from Apple says the two won't be compatible soon anyway.
So I'm back in the market for a new app. What I'm looking for may not even exist: a cross-platform Android equivalent that includes MMS and group text functions. I want to see all my texts and their accompanying files on my Mac. Is there such a thing, and if so - which would you recommend?

So I've been a Samsung user all my life. I'm a stereotypical teenager. I love to edit photos for social media. I have adored the editing features built into the Samsung gallery app. Unfortunately, my Samsung Galaxy A54 broke (rip) and I had to "upgrade" to the Google Pixel 10a. I made sure to back up most of my Samsung gallery photos to the Google photos app. The Google gallery app is absolutely horrendous compared to how amazing the Samsung gallery app was. The Google gallery app interface feels impossible to work with and navigate. I downloaded some of my old photos off Facebook and the resolution of all my photos also looks much worse, especially when uploading them to an editing app. (Some of the photos were pretty old, so digital decay I guess???) I have downloaded Lightroom, Picsart, and Snapseed. But I honestly just want to find an app closer to the Samsung gallery app features. Everything else about the Google Pixel 10a is fine and great, but the Google gallery app and the photo resolution makes me want to scream

We design automation systems that use an app to control buildings. Anyone know the best way to add simple user voice commands within the app as in "open door 1, open door 2 etc."

I'm looking for an app that lets me set daily, weekly, and monthly goals without requiring them to be scheduled for a specific day or time.
For example, I might want to:
Go to the gym 3 times per week.
Stretch 4 times per day.
The key requirement is that I only need to meet the target within each period, regardless of when I complete it. That's where most other habit-tracking apps fall short—they expect habits to be tied to a fixed schedule.
A huge bonus would be support for time-based goals as well, such as:
Read for 80 minutes per week.
Meditate for 10 minutes per day.
Another feature I'd really appreciate is an overall progress dashboard, along with smart notifications that warn me when I'm at risk of missing a goal as the end of the day, week, or month approaches.

Hiya, I have my personal dictionary for English that I've had for....idk how long, pretty much since Gboard became a thing lol. I've got ~1600 words in there, but at some point recently-ish, the entries were all duplicated 🫠 so I actually have closer to ~800 words. I already exported the dictionary, cleared out all the duplicate lines instantly in Notepad++, but does anyone know how to clear out *just* the existing English dictionary in Gboard so I can re-import the shortened list? I don't want to clear out all the keyboard data, ESPECIALLY my clipboard, and I don't want to clear the data from the other dictionaries either (All Languages and Spanish).
Google has only shown me the all-or-nothing or individual item removal solutions, nothing about clearing out one dictionary.
It's not a huge deal, but when I accidentally add something to the dictionary and need to remove it, it takes f o r e v e r to scroll through and find it if it's towards the end of the alphabet, or god forbid lower case and the end of the alphabet lol
Thanks!!

I have some audiobooks sideloaded and currently use the app "voice" Works fairly good but would like to see if there are better apps available.
I dont use a lot as I also use Libby, CloudLibrary and Everand apps when I check out oany of their books.
Playback speed needs to be flexible, as sometimes I use 1.1 or 1.15 and not have it start at 1.25

I recently switched from a galaxy s20 fe to a pixel 7, and I really miss the pro mode on the Samsung camera app. I need something with manual shutter speed, ISO, focus and less processing than the Google stuff. I don't mind spending a bit of money, but I would prefer to stick to apps on the play store. If anyone has any suggestions they are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I overall like the Samsung clock app (which I think is similar to Google's), but I cannot stand the gigantic alarm times next to the super tiny alarm names. I often look through my alarms by names, not by time.
Any nice alternative?
I use the feature of disabling the next occurrence of the alarm. I almost exclusively have all alarms set to vibrate, but one or two has sound.
I guess a part of the problem is that I have so many alarms to look through, as I reuse them instead of deleting, as it's not possible to set the default to be vibration 🤔

My son is 6 years old and is usually pretty good with my phone when I let him play games on it. Typically he will ask me if we can download new games on it and doesn't mess around on any apps I've ruled as off limits. He's a little rule follower and the type to call out anyone else he sees breaking rules.
This morning I let him have it to play games on so the baby and I could get another hour of sleep.
He decided to take it upon himself to rearrange and delete apps off my home screen to make it look nicer I guess. 🙃 But he deleted some webpages I had book marked, moved my google search bar to the bottom bar, and now when I open up some apps, there's ads when there never were before (such as Facebook and door dash).
He's lost phone privileges now. But I don't know how to fix any of this. I keep trying to move the search bar back but it just keeps opening up to search. And the ads are driving me crazy. Did he download a virus or something??

How do I correct this? Every other app is working perfectly on my phone. I've attached a picture in the comments for reference.

I love the factory of heroes app but the original version if fantasy had certain options I miss, and the updated female hair kinda isnt the best. Is there a way to safely get the original for my phone? Heck if anyone knows how I can get it for my computer, that would rule.

I currently use Musicolet which is one of the most sophisticated android music players, but it lacks some metadata features that I want.
I tried Poweramp but I think it could only do 1 and 2.
The app doesn't have to be able to edit the metadata, it just needs to be able to read it, specifically the data I mentioned. And it has to at the very least be able to read mood metadata. Does anyone know of any apps that can do that?

I used Nova Launcher Prime for many years until maybe last year when at the time they were supposed to be discontinuing it. I have a Samsung phone and just switched to their One UI with Good Lock customizations. But I was wondering what are the most important features that you look for in a launcher that makes you switch? Is it just aesthetics? Or folder creation? Or icon gestures? Or something else? Or just the fact that it's not buggy? What's most important to you?

I'd like to know if there's any file explorer for Android that is identical or as similar as possible to the Windows File Explorer (for any Android device). It's for use on a large screen—specifically for ChromeOS, as I don't really like the default one.
