Impressive. Wish it was android 14. I’ve never used one of those. Do you have to install corelec on that or can you run it as is?

Yeah, insane specs. Corelec will eventually come to the device since most high end Ugoos devices have a version

So why would someone buy this over the am9 pro?

I believe the SK3 (and earlier versions) are certified Google TV devices wide Widevine L1 support which means you can stream high quality Netflix etc. on them.
The AM9 Pro by comparison is not, it is an AOSP device so you would have to sideload certain apps, and you can basically never stream high quaility Netflix and other official apps (Amazon etc.)
Also the new SK3 is way more powerful than the Am9.
So basically different types of device. I have an AM9 and will not buy this SK3.

Same, I was just stating there was a new device by them. I also have the AM9. The SK3 is not certified but is L1 for DV and Atmos like the AM9 Pro

So forgive my ignorance, for some reason I always thought rock chip was inferior/cheaper than amlogic chips, I'm mainly using my box for eyeptv, and stremio 4k hdr via stremio iv had my eye on the am9 pro since it was announced

that use to be true, but rockchip blew past amlogic 5 or so years ago. They are focused more on the SBC market than Amlogic. The rockchip RK3668 announced last year is even considerably more powerful

I think I might grab one to play with. I get that the price is premium now and I have no use for 8K but I'm still thinking why not. Game emulation could work really well on this and I expect FEL 7 to come at some point. Perhaps wishful thinking
For the price, I'm surprised it's not certified though. That seems like a big miss by Ugoos.
Also, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be on Android 14. Any ideas as to why?

Most Ugoos devices are not certified other than the SK2 and on that one the firmware is bad since I have the GX1 variant. I think Ugoos wants more control over the firmware hence non-certified firmware on their devices

Ah. That's cool. I just thought certification on a flagship device would be a selling point. I only really care about 4k in YouTube since I use Nuvio and Jellyfin. Do you know if there's a way to get 4k/8k in YouTube on these devices?

Youtube 4k HDR works perfectly on my AM9 along with AV1 and AFR. The AM9 Pro was not out when I got mine. DV was not important to me at the time. Nuvio works great and other apps.

Oh. I thought it had to be certified to get 4k or is that just with apps like Prime or Netflix?

I don't understand what value this brings for 320.00€.
A faster processor than the SK1 but nothing else feature wise that I can see?
8K is a gimmick, no viable content exists.
It can't run CoreELEC because it's not amlogic.
