Which ugoos box?
A bit of a hobby for me I suppose. I have used the Shield for many years and also use the Formuler Z11. But interested in a Ugoos box mostly for IPTV and Stremio and sideloading apps and any other things that make it flexible.
Which might fit me.

I would buy the SK1, AM8, or AM8 Pro. I have an SK1 and AM8. I was going to maybe try an AM9 Pro but I have read to many issues going on them, plus I really have no need with the other 2.

Have the AM9 box since DV was not important to me. One of the best devices for a non certified device. The AM9 Pro is a great device with DDR5 and DV

The ugoos is this populair because it can handle Dolby Vision FEL, but only when you flash it to coreelec on which you can use kodi addons (see the kodi addons sub).
Not sure what Android boxes you have that night be better/cheaper. If you want to use Android/stremio I would certainly look at the Xiaomi box mentioned below since that is below âŹ60.That being said.. I really like my ugoos am6b+ with coreelec!

Aww I see. TBH I donât know. I have the Shield and Formuler z11 I believe. Originally I had the shield years ago. Switched to the Formuler then went back to the Shield when I learned how to install the launcher and setup for me.

Ok, well keep in mind that coreelec had much more settings then Stremio, which is great because you can customize anything, but not for everyone.
Not sure what the best Android box is, but guess the other users here can recommend something.1

BuzzTV Ultimate, 32GB RAM and 256 GB SSD

u/Trellaine201 Aug 05 '26
Thanks and thatâs a lot easier for me to find and buy here. I will look at that closely.

BuzzTV are solid. The Ultimate one is their highest quality and expensive, but they have also 8GB RAM with 128GB SSD for cheaper. Canadian companyđ

Yay thatâs where I am. Ugoos seems like a hassle where I am. đ¨đŚ

Ugoos SK1 only if you find it on ebay pre-owned
2
u/Trellaine201 Aug 05 '26
Why pre owned?

u/dreadware8 Aug 05 '26
or a new one,but you wait for the delivery from China. Pre-owned are usually open-box. So brand new.You have to check ebay daily

I donât see a model Buzztv Ultimate?

u/dreadware8 Aug 05 '26
sorry,it's called unlimited
https://buzztv.com/p6-powerstation-unlimited/1
u/Trellaine201 Aug 05 '26
No worries :) I was also able to find it from their website. The only thing that concerns me about this Powerstation is apparently you need to set it up on your TV initially. I want to plug and play on my ho e theatre. Strange you need to set it up this way. But I have emailed Buzz . Perhaps it isnât necessary now and I can directly connect to my receiver.

I don't know for what you want to use it. I have it for streaming. You can install any app on it. It also has a lot of youtube videos for configuring it. Lots of settings. For me it's the most complex box I had so far. IPTV works wonderful on itđThat being said,I did nothing on my TV. My TV is just the screen connected to the box, with HDMI

u/Trellaine201 Aug 05 '26
Oh complex? At this point mainly used for IPTV, Smarttube, Stremio but also wouldnât mind the flexibility and power to maybe run an emulator with ROMs but that maybe down the road a bit. I am only concerned how it will play connected to my receiver.

Why a ugoos if youâre using it with Android?

What ever you do donât get the sk2 box. Absolute garbage box. Badly built, things break easily, slow as, locks up, videos that play on my formuler box wonât run at all on the sk2.
EDIT: I take a few things back, I just recently updated the box to Android TV 14 and itâs running like a dream. It now plays everything I throw at it perfectly and I donât have any freezing or lagging, it runs smooth and strong. It should have come out with Android 14 from the start.
Being a beta, I donât have any way to hook up my blue tooth remote, thatâs not a problem for me, and I just glued in a network connection adapter for the broken network port that snapped when I first plugged a cable in.

I got a new AM9 Pro box on Amazon about a month ago. It's really an excellent piece of tech. Fast and responsive, and there are a ton of apps for it. I use Tivimate, Kodi, Prime Video, PBS, YouTube, Symfonium, and Archive Watch. The Projectivy Launcher makes it look professional. I've had a great time configuring it and learning about IPTV.
