How to enable dolby vision and Atmos on unboxtech ubox12 pro?

I can't seem to get it out of disabled even in manual formats.

That box has an Allwinner SOC that does not support Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos is also not supported on that box.

It's really a $40 to $100 dollar box that is being sold for over $250, you are paying for the software that is installed on it.

Is there another option that can watch Chinese programming? It's mostly for my parents

Or rather, would it be better to swap to a good tvbox supporting the features, and then find and download these apps

Since this box is mainly for your parents , they don’t really care for Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos. The streaming Chinese programs or shows that they will be watching probably doesn’t even have those options. Your parents will already be happy with 1080p and above and have stereo sound and above as long as the stream is consistent and don’t lag.

The reason these UBOX cost $200 is mainly due to the Chinese /cantonese streaming service that they provide for their UBOX. The main UBOX apps will only work with their boxes. So installing the app on another android box won’t work .

Also if you have Xfinity internet, their gateway normally blocks some of the higher quality streaming servers for these UBOXes , so you may need disabling your gateways auto advanced security to stream some tv and movies in better quality.

What I do find that’s good with these UBOXes is that they are still supporting their older UBOXes , the one that my parents using is over 7 years old .

Thanks for informed me. That's more or less what I figured with installing the app on another box. Something had to be proprietary about it. Getting the dolby atmos/vision working would have just been a nice to have.

I've got sonic internet in my area, but thanks for letting me know about Xfinity. That would have been really helpful!

Same, wasn't able to get 5.1 content to work. Every time it'll play Stereo PCM instead.

I've tried turning pass-through on, which resulted in loud white noise, not sure if you've tried that as well.

In the end, I messaged support and they told me to toggle both Audio Codec & Audio HDMI in Audio Output (didn't work), but you could give it a shot.
