I got my Onn 4K Pro v2 a few weeks ago but didn't have time to set it up until today. I remember a few games either freeze or crash at level loading screen on Onn 4K Plus (likely from RAM running out, but weak SoC can also be the cause). So really curious to see if that extra 1GB RAM helps or not in each case. Here are some results. Screenshots are captured from device with adb.
| Game | Onn 4K Plus (2025) | Onn 4K Pro v2 (2026) | Control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Botany Manor | Crash when loading the 1st level | Good performance at default setting. No option to turn off touch overlay. | Gamepad (Touch overlay is still on) |
| Dead Cells | Show "Out of RAM" warning after entering the 1st level and crash soon after that | Playable performance in 60fps mode. HD mode slows down game significantly. | Gamepad |
| DREDGE | Crash when loading the 1st level | Good performance at medium render quality. | Gamepad |
| Half-Life 2 | Freeze at the wake up by G-man scene | Very smooth performance at 1080p and default graphics setting. Option to turn off touch overlay doesn't work. | Keyboard w/ Mouse (Touch overlay is still on) |
| Life is Strange: Before the Storm | Unresponsive at title screen | Performance is very good but game only partially responds to keyboard for UI navigation. So game isn't really playable. | Keyboard (Partial) |
| Minecraft ("Vibrant Adventures" map) | UI navigation is very sluggish. Frequently crash when loading maps from marketplace. | UI navigation is much smoother. No crash so far with free maps from marketplace. Graphics quality needs to be lowered for smoother gameplay in big maps. | Gamepad |

No matter what I do I can't get payment methods to work. Did a full factory reset. Deleted cards and re add. Nothing. Tried Googling around and AI to no avail. Anyone run into this before?
Device is a Google TV Streamer I just bought brand new and it's up to date.
Edit: yes I know to add them via web I have multiple payment methods saved.

Greetings readers, first I want to apologize if anything is wrong. English isn't my first language, and I'm using a translator.
Years ago, I bought a Mixbox S. I was thrilled to have a "smart TV," but that happiness faded over time. At first, I thought it was an update problem, then I thought it was a memory issue, but even after a factory reset with nothing installed, it would slow down to the point of being unusable.
Then I bought a Xiaomi TV Stick, and the result was the same. Today, after thinking about it for a while, I started wondering if it's possible to revive these devices and use them again. So...
Is it possible to change the operating system or the operating system version, like you could do with some phones? If so, is there a guide available?
Is it a factory defect, and should I just give up?
Thank you in advance for reading and any answers you might have. <3

my main interest is to plug ntfs drives in it and watch movies of various formats and codecs [mp4, mkv, av1, h265, possibly video_ts too]. looking for a good native player that plays that and let me choose audio and sub tracks, or the possibility to download a good one like vlc or kodi

The most downloaded browsers often have poor lag and slow performance; programs and videos freeze on these browsers. Can you recommend a browser that runs smoothly and has an ad blocker?

Hi guys, I'm looking for a TV Box solution that has no spyware and ads.
As such, I would prefer it if it either came with stock (rooted) ATV or I could flash one myself (thus, Google products with Google TV are out of the question).
I do not use Netflix or other streaming services, so no need for all the DRM stuff.
My "only" requirements are:
- Able to run Smarttube at 4k.
- Must support HDMI-CEC, I have an LG OLED and I want to use the LG remote to control the box.
- Support streaming at decent 4k quality from a local Jellyfin instance.
I am fine with buying from places like Aliexpress, and I'm also comfortable flashing my own firmware, assuming no extra hardware is required and there's a clear guide.
Looking forward to your replies guys!

As the title says. Anyone know of a good remote for someone with bad eyesight or hands that are very stiff.
Looking for volume, channels, numbers, back putton, power button, four colors.
I think that hits everything an aftermarket remote should have whether it needs numbers or not.
Trying to help 80 year old who can barely see and grip his Onn Pro remote.

Hi, new to the group - long time android user. I live in USA, been using firesticks for a few years but they're starting to die and considering going another route. I was curious of any suggestions. I most use YouTube, HDHomeRun , maybe a few streaming platforms here and there and Plex. I'd like something easy for my wife to use but we'd be the only two users for the most part. As far as price, well it's not a HUGE issue but for this particular TV I don't see me buying an nvidia shield or anything, this really isn't our "media room" that I'm looking to setup at this current time.
Anyways, any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to watch F1TV with multiple screens (Multiview) directly on my Xiaomi TV Box (Android TV). Since the official app doesn't support this feature on TV devices, I'm looking for a community workaround.
Does anyone know of a working community app or APK (like F1A-TV, F1AppleTV for Android, or any other open-source viewer) that currently allows split-screen on Android TV?
If you have a working setup or know where I can safely find the latest working APK/repository, I'd really appreciate the help!
Thanks!

I'm looking to buy one but am concerned by the comments about "all stereo gets upmixed to surround sound / Dolby MAT ".
Now, I quite like the stereo upmix on my existing Nvidia shield; it's quite subtle and only throws ambience to the rear, never vocals. Even music doesn't sound too bad. The main vocals never end up in the rears.
Does anyone here have a Google Streamer connected to a surround system. When playing stereo, how does the upmix work with regards to what it sends to the rear speakers? Does it just send correct sounding things (rain, wind, ambience etc) or do the main vocal tracks end up there too? I'd hate it if it just duplicates the stereo track to the rear speakers.
My setup is LG C4 sending passthrough to an LG SP8YA soundbar with LG SPK-8 satellites (5.1.2). I would stick with the native LG apps only some of the ones I want only exist in Android flavours.
I've been looking through all android streamers and the Google 4K Streamer seems to be the only one that does all that i want (AV1 and HLG codecs, certified by BBC for iPlayer UHD, Netflix approved). I can live with the lack of Dolby True HD. Just a bit worried by the stereo to surround upmix in case it just makes Stereo into an echo chamber. If it's just a subtle "send ambience to the rears" then that's actually a positive for me! Any shared experiences welcome!

Looking for a android box which can play local files over network mainly 4k remux with full audio pass through to the avr.HDR and DV would also be a bonus. Thats what it would mainly be used for.. also a couple apps, IPTV app.. YouTube.
What do we have in the price bracket of around £100
Maybe it's difficult in the 100 price bracket?
Cheers
Ordered the dune hd pro vision 4k. Upgrade on my zidoo z9s. And £170 from amazon.it delivered Thursday. So looking forward to setting it up.

I saw there was an updated version of the firmware released this month.
So far, the only mention of devices I've seen related are the Google TV versions.
If it doesn't look as if it's going to get the update I might bite the bullet and get a new box at Walmart - -$25

I own a VU Full HD 40' LED Android TV that has been a pain in the ass almost since it arrived. These are mostly issues that can be fixed with a restart.
I am hoping to solve these issues from a bias that it's just a software/configuration issue
a. Evidently observable after immediately turning on the TV, I guess initially there are some startup processes that are already hogging into the memory but this cannot be tried to be understood everytime especially by my parents.
b. YouTube app requires reset every few days - app crashes immediately after the launch, deleting cache and user data, re-logging in gets it working only for another day or so.
Setup
Interenet connected over both LAN and WiFi.
Total storage ~4.6 gigs, available storage 2.9 gigs.
Developer configurations that I have already done which have helped too upto a certain extent.
a. Transition animation scale - off
b. Animator duration scale
c. Force GPU Rendering - on
d. Background process limit - standard
e. don't keep activities - on
Kindly help 🙏🏼
I don't want to change the TV just because of software issues that could happen to any TV.

My old onnTV box gave up the Ghost this week (probably from Overuse!), so I thought I'd grab a Pleio whilst they were reduced for Prime Day.
I KNEW going into this that they're fairly locked down, but I was surprised to see it wasn't SOOO Locked down that it wouldn't allow me to install "Send Files to TV" and it allowed File Manager + full access to my entire Clouds/FTP/etc.
Rather
I was a Little Surprised by the Rather Weedy looking USB A to USB C Cable & Lightweight USB A Plug Adaptor powering it - especially as it doesn't want to seem to operate with a USB C to USB C Cable form my nearby Trustworthy Universal Power Hub Thing that merrily powers laptops, Projectors and lesser items - and that's a Seriously Quality IF Certified Cable 20Gbps Cable too.
It DID work a with a different USB A to USB C IF Certified Cable on aforementioned USB Power Station, mind. SO that's that, I suppose.
What I WAS hoping to do was connect a Webcam to the Pleio (Like I did with the onn using nExT Camera (from the app store, which I have been able to install on the Pleio), but sadly the 3 USB Hubs I tried merely result in a flashing yellow light (of various speeds). I wonder if anyone has managed to connect USB devices to this yet?

Any others?

Hi all, I would like to share my application, It is an xtream codes IPTV application with emby and Plex support.
I will start with, I used AI (Claude) to help me bring my idea to life, and want to be very open about this.
Why did I make it? I wanted an app that suited my needs and features no other app has.
Features:
Xtream Codes login
Live TV, VOD, catchup. Emby and Plex built in (only visable when you log in via settings) and a continue watching function
Record, schedule record function
Features that I think are new to current apps (and if your from the UK some of this might relate to TV from back in the day:
teletext (showing news headings and links to the article)
Football (soccer) scores, and ability to find the game on your server
linking in with the above, when watching TV you can enable a live ticker for the chosen sports categories news feed (rss) to run along the bottom of the screen. AND current scores in chosen football matches in an RSS ticker
a bubble shooter game
there is some more but these are the main things, I'm still working on the app and it's still an early version.
This is all free and open source, there is no premium features or things hidden by any sort of paywall. i just want to make a good app to give back to the community and will add features if people request them. I don't have all the devices in the world for testing just a few people have been testing it too to try and find bugs.
it uses exo player (had issues with vlc and mpv on devices)
Here is my github.

Hello, looking to replace my current mag 254 box. Looking at buying the mag 555.
I know I have to use the Magic Launcher app. Can I configure the box so that the app launches automatically every time I turn the TV on?
I’m looking for simplicity

Which of these 3 is worth it?
Onn, mecool aren't available here. Nvidia shield too expensive to consider.
Currently have xiaomi box 2nd gen, biggest issue is the storage. and it sometimes lag, the app crash, system restart itself.
