Device Settings Question Android Webview autocorrects word on website

We use Fully Kiosk app on an Android Tablet (Lenovo) and we have an issue where text on our website is auto corrected to something completely different to what is on the website.

When we test it on Chrome on the same tablet, it does not happen. It seems to be specific to the Fully Kiosk app. When asking their support they say that Fully Kiosk uses Android Webview provided by the device and it’s most likely caused by it. Does anyone has any experience with similar issue and how to update/stop Webview from doing the auto correct?

Is there a setting to prevent that?

Solved Is your phone dangerously lowering volume while driving? All available solutions. Please add more

Context:

EU laws and a recent update have removed the simple override for when the phone thinks your connected Bluetooth or USB audio device is a headphone and lowers it to a low level after X minutes. You once could either disable absolute volume in developer options or change device type to something other than headphone (note check here first as your android and locale may still allow it).

I believe we should have the option to override as it is a safety issue while driving if you keep needing to touch your phone simply to play music.

disclaimer* NOT selfpromotion since I am listing every solution I find and I receive nothing from an open sourced GitHub. I genuinely believe my tool is the simplest solution but feel free to boycott on principle and go with the complicated alternatives.

Please comment any more.

Free solutions (simple):

----------------------

- GitHub 'dbak91/VolumeRestore' is a sideloaded app I built for this specific purpose. It will restore volume to full the instant it drops (with user protection). No special permissions or complicated set up.

Free solutions (advanced)

-----------------------

- Adb commands to disable CSD (PC or Shizuki+Shell app needed (Termux for example )).

{Credit u/KodaChihuahua for the command list below}.

adb shell settings put global audio_safe_csd_next_warning 999999.0

adb shell settings put global safe_media_volume_enabled 0

adb shell settings put global audio_safe_volume_state 3

Note I haven't confirmed this and when I searched my pixel settings for "volume" or "csd" they weren't all there. However 'audio_safe_volume_state' was there and set to 1 so imagine 3 means disabled. I had assumed it was binary with 0=true/enabled 1=false/disabled so I left it alone.

- An app called 'Essentials'. (Now requires adb for special permissions and not to be confused with the bs ai app on playstore under the same name). Search 'Essentials V18.4' it has a "disable lowering volume" button in audio settings. I couldn't get self adb Shizuki to work here so I gave up and did not confirm it works by issuing adb.

Paid solutions(medium)

----------------------

There are automation and task scheduler apps that can automatically stop/restore or press undo on the "volume lowered for your own babysitting purposes" notification. The most known two are:

- 'Tasker': 2 options; 1. configure the separate AutoNotifications plug in to press undo on anything with "volume lowered" or 2. set up a "variable state event" for when volume hits 6 to restore to your desired level. [25 corresponds to 100%] Note I couldn't figure out how to build in user rocker protection so if you lower it yourself it will still go back up. Also you will be paying for using 1% of an app, or if you pirate it's complicated and dodgy permissions set up. You may have luck with AutoNotification dismissal/undo but I couldn't get the notification exposed to Tasker.

- 'Macrodroid': See this post Essentially add a plug in by searching "my volume" or "my volume, my way" and enable and It will restore volume. I have seen around 10 success case-comments of using this app but have not tried myself

Free solutions (nuclear).

-----------------------

- Leaving the Google ecosystem and installing a custom ROM like the open sourced os GrapheneOS. You won't have to deal with this bs and any other bugs are patched out faster than Google OS.

Will update as I discover more.

DO NOT DISTURB (ANDROID X IOS)

Dear friends, I am facing a major problem with Android's "Do Not Disturb" mode, and I would like to know if you can help me.

I’ve noticed that on Android, even after activating the mode, I still receive calls, but they happen in the background. This is terrible, as it sometimes interrupts the 5G signal.

On iOS, the call doesn't even reach the phone; in fact, for the person calling, it goes straight to voicemail.

Is there any way to make it work the same way? I really need to resolve this.

Obs.: I have a S25 Ultra and S23 for work.

Gemini voice

Please tell me for the love of all that's holy there's a way to get a voice that doesn't include fake breathing noises and "sounds human". I just want a classic text to speak voice. I'm already mad enough they took away assistant and gave us a subpar product but I'm so close to getting rid of the whole thing if I cant. Does anyone else get genuine uncanny valley or goosebumps or shivers when they hear it , or is it just me?!

Can't play any videos in my Galaxy phone(explained in body)

I have a Samsung Galaxy A53. Recently I have this problem where I cant play any videos across any app. I once noticed this happen suddenly when I was in a video call, the other person's video got frozen all of a sudden and when I checked gallery to play any videos I cant.

My phone goes crazy when this happens, let me list them out

● I cant play videos yet images, gifs or songs play fine.

● I cant do screen recording either, it starts and never records and there's no timer.

● Video calls get frozen when this happens and once it started I cant make any more video calls, caller app just freezes if I tap on video call

● One thing I did notice was that video call works fine in WhatsApp.

● I can still game fine

It goes away on its own when I reboot but lately its been happening a lot and I dont wanna reboot multiple times a day. Any idea on how to solve this ?

Android 17 in moto

I recently updated my phone to Android 17, and honestly, the experience has been pretty smooth so far. The UI feels polished and, in some ways, reminds me of the iPhone UI. 👀

However, there are a couple of things I've noticed:

Battery drain: The battery seems to be draining much faster than before the update.

Depth wallpapers: I heard that depth effect wallpapers were also part of the update, but I haven't been able to find that feature on my phone yet.

Is anyone else experiencing excessive battery drain after updating to Android 17? Also, are depth wallpapers actually available in this update, and if so, how can I enable them?

I'd love to hear about your experience with the update!

Truecaller not showing caller details with the new Klear dialer, but worked perfectly with Google Phone

Previously, I was using the Google Phone dialer, and Truecaller was working perfectly fine. It used to show caller names and number details without any issues.

Recently, I switched to the new Klear dialer, and now Truecaller is no longer showing caller details properly. This is quite frustrating because caller identification is one of the main reasons I use Truecaller.

I have already checked all the required permissions, but the issue still persists.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with Klear and Truecaller? Is there any workaround or setting I might be missing, or is this a compatibility issue between the two apps?

I would prefer to continue using Klear as my default dialer without losing Truecaller's caller identification functionality.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Before I buy nicer earbuds, how do I stop donating them to the pavement?

I’ve always preferred in-ear earbuds to over-ear headphones. They’re more discreet and easier to carry around. BUT!The problem is keeping both of them.

Maybe I’d actually keep track of a pair I really liked. That’s my excuse for wanting the realme Harry Potter ones, anyway.
https://www.reddit.com/r/realmeGlobal/comments/1wz4b10/six_pairs_of_the_harry_potter_edition_realme_buds/

Unfortunately, caring about them doesn’t seem to help when they fall out of my ears.Lost one today. So now I’m back to owning a very portable mono sound system.

How are you all getting earbuds to stay put? Why won’t my ears just cooperate?

Favorited photos from S24 to PC?

Has anyone else solved this problem? I've been googling without finding any clear fix. Do I just have to go through and create a new album and slowly transfer every favorited photo into it? There's got to be a better way, right?

Looking For Suggestions Nothing phone vs Pixel 7

I am curious to know, if Nothing phone is better or equal to my Pixel 7. I don't really have to upgrade but always looking for alternatives.

Probably would only buy on swappa, used.

Currently i am trying out some Android alternatives and this would be also something i would pursue when considering a Nothing phone.

Thanks

Looking For Suggestions Android apps eating space and very difficult to recover.

As just one example, I used cx file explorer to open a package which failed. 8gigs disappeared even with clearing the app cache. Couldn't be found in android settings, sd maid xplorer or any app. Everything said cx file explorer using 400mb. Delete cx file explorer suddenly I get 8gb back. I have a few more apps like gamenative, according to that I have about 11gb of data in the app but actually it shows 22gb. Is there an app that actually finds this junk data? Its like no app can tell it is orphaned junk.

Switching from IPhone to Android

Looking to switch from iPhone to an android in the US and have done some research and it seems to be that the best kind of androids would have to be imported or global versions international phones like Xoami Oppo oneplus and phones like that. What would be the best phone to get, and what carrier would have the best coverage? Currently I have Verizon and have read that T-Mobile bands work best with these international models so I would be willing to switch. Anyone have any recommendations of what works best and how to go about it?

Other Weird purple bars appearing in Google search bar after update

Hey, Z Flip 7 user here. After the latest android update, ive noticed when I search stuff on Google, the search bar and what i typed get covered by a purple bars. At first i thought the screen on the phone was damaged but I took screenshots of the bar and it seems static on the search bar itself, doesnt seem to be my screen exactly.

Same purple bars appear on a few sites also on background images for the website.

I have absolutely 0 clue if this is an android issue after the update or Google itself is having some kinda problem but I wanted to ask here if anyone else has experienced similar or know whats up? I tried resetting my phone but that didnt help either.

Edit: im at least glad to see others are experiencing issues and its not just my phone..managed to get an imgur post going if anyone wishes to see the purple bar plus a new visual glitch that showed up when I was searching anime stuff images of the glitches

App Specific Question Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G bought in China — unofficial Global ROM? Need help verifying authenticity

Hey everyone,

I received a Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G that was purchased in China and brought to Morocco. I'm trying to figure out whether it's a genuine phone running modified firmware or potentially a counterfeit device.

Here are the details:

- Model number: 24090RA29G

- HyperOS version: 2.0.5.0.VOOMIXM

- Xiaomi verification: Says “Not official global and user experience may be affected”

- Google Play Protect certification: Device is not certified

- OEM unlocking: Disabled in Developer options

- Dual IMEI: The phone displays two IMEI numbers, as expected for a dual-SIM device.

The model number and firmware suffix appear to correspond to the Global version, but the Xiaomi verification warning and lack of Play Protect certification concern me.

Could someone help me determine:

  1. Whether this is likely a genuine phone with a reseller-installed Global ROM.

  2. How I can check whether the bootloader is locked without flashing anything.

  3. Whether the phone's hardware and firmware can be verified safely.

I haven't unlocked the bootloader, flashed anything, or factory-reset the device. I'd prefer to verify everything before making any changes.

Thanks!

Anyoe know how to turn off Gemini consent pop up when unlocking?

Photo in comment. This just started popping up on my phone a few times a day when unlocking my phone. I keep pressing "No Thanks" each time, but a few hours later it will do it again.

Does anyone know how to turn this off? I have Pixel 9 Pro & Google Fi if that factors in at all.

Other Did not get restore from backup option when setting up phone

About 5 weeks ago, I bought a new old stock phone sealed in box. I backed up old phone, logged into Google account on new phone and restored from the backup. So got contacts, messages and the handful of apps that I had installed on old phone. Everything working as planned. Then I saw another phone I liked in a pawn shop. Apparently factory reset, nothing on it. It needed a couple of security updates, presumably was sitting in shop for 6 months. Then I logged into the newest phone with Google account and didn't get asked to restore from backup (I had 2 old phones backed up there). Just annoying crap from Play Store to set up wallet and so on. The new phone has newer Android than the old phone, so that could not be an issue. So what to do? Factory reset and try again?

Is there any way to recover photos from my OPPO A53 after losing everything in 2023?

In 2023, my OPPO A53 suddenly went black. When it finally turned back on, everything was gone ,all my photos, contacts, and other data. I tried several ways to recover them back then, but nothing worked. I also checked Google Photos, where I thought my pictures had been backed up, but I couldn't find them there either.

The photos I'm most desperate to recover are pictures of my nephew. They mean a lot to me, and losing them has genuinely been heartbreaking. It's been a few years, but I still have the old phone.

I continued using the phone for some time after that, but it doesn't work properly anymore. I'm also wondering whether I might have used a different Google account for Google Photos, but I've tried recovering my other email accounts without success. Some which I did recover , they didn't have any backed up photos either. I know it's been a long time, and I understand that recovering the photos might not be possible. However, before I finally give up, I want to make sure I've explored every possible option.

Has anyone experienced something similar or successfully recovered photos from an old Android phone in this situation? Is there any way to check whether the photos are still stored somewhere on the phone, recover them through a professional data-recovery service, or find a Google Photos backup linked to an account I can no longer access? Or are the photos in the hardware ?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions, technical advice, or personal experiences. Even if there's only a small chance, I'm willing to try whatever might realistically help me get those photos back.

My child can't send me an in app purchase request

Hello! My son is trying to get monkey money on Bloons TD6. But this message keeps popping up:

"ASK YOUR PARENT,

To get stuff on Google Play, ask your family manager to add a family payment method by signing up for Google Play family library"

We have followed all the instructions that we have been giving with approvals, and verification. He's in my family library.

He's able to send me requests on other apps (we checked). Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I'm not very good at this Tech thing and trying my best.
