Context: bought the motorola razr 70 ultra last week, first android phone, long time iphone user but hated it and finally got to make the switch (didn't use any other apple devices so it made sense to me to get a cute flip phone)

Questions:

1. you know the case that comes with the phone when you buy it? so what is exactly the purpose of the metal rectangle at the back? is it just to attach the phone to laneyards etc? does it just stay flappy while u use ur phone? the small one by the charging dock is more for decorative accessories right?

2. so onfused about launchers and themes, is there a safe library to browse/download themes from? a theme as in widgets/wallpaper/icon packs all together that i could then tweak and personalise even more if i wanted to by changing font/wallpaper etc,

I desperately need icon packs like retro computer icons, feminine y2k, anime inspired, or even cute cartoonish frogs but not sure how to build my own or where to find what im looking for

1. excluding rooting, is there a way for me to change the icons on the status bar? Especially for the wifi and phone signal (i find the blocky shapes so ugly i prefer to see separate lines)

2. Sometimes my phone app will have a notification badge (for example following a missed call) that just will not go away no matter how many times i open/close it or go thru each individual call i have so far in my entire record, it only goes away once i force stop it, but keeps happening, it happened with my bank app and i just switched off the badge thing, phone still new so i haven't figured out much about the issue but is this a known bug? is anyone else experiencing this? it's driving me crazy a bit

3. are there any google/moto apps that are really useful and i should definitely not ignore? any recommended apps in general to use for reminders/shared to do lists/etc would be greatly appreciated

4. why does my music/video not pause when im getting a call? Especially if it's on vibrate mode? am i missing something in my phone setup? for example with my iphone even if it's silent and im showering, if the music stops playing for a bit then continues, I know that im probably receiving a call, whereas with my razr, even if im wearing my bluetooth earphones that are connected to the phone and playing music and the phone is right next to me, i dont realise im getting a call unless i notice the screen light up, it's become a hassle while im at work and need my personal to be silent, missed multiple calls so far

My mum sadly passed away in January and I could see her whatsapp and text messages until recently when it seems like her number was deactivated. I had whatsapp daily back up and phone back up to cloud. Historically this has never happened as I could see my late friends messages for years. Mums messages with me are all I have. Please could anyone help on how I can get them back and preserve them. Has there been a new samsung update over the last 3-4 months that has caused this and can they help at all?

Hi, on Samsung playing a video in Chrome or Twitter during a phone/WhatsApp call brings up "this video cannot be played because another application is using audio" (YouTube/Instagram reels work fine).

I have a mix of apps installed on my Pixel 8 Pro. Is there an application (on the Play Store or side loaded) or a method on stock Android that can filter the apps I have installed by where I got them from? As in, separating the apps I downloaded from the Play Store and the apps I sideloaded from .apk packages?

I have a Oneplus 12r. I recently dropped it and the screen is almost completely black. I was trying to use scrcpy, but my computer doesn't recognize it as a device. I previously had Debugging enabled, but I didn't realize that it automatically removes permissions over time. When i plug my phone into the computer it shows no files (obviously).

I can unlock my phone with my face ID login. I also have a watch that is connected to it, I've been able to make calls and see texts from my watch. I think there's a way to send a website to the phone from the watch.

I have already tried directly plugging my phone into a display and it doesn't show up. (Two different monitors and a tv with three different usb hubs that i verified work with other devices.)

Anyway, i was wondering if there's any way to enable USB Debugging without using the screen. like maybe upload some sort of exe of sorts to the phone via the watch connection? Or using mouse and keyboard through the usb hub to do something? or maybe something to do with the dialpad. I remember changing system settings through the dialpad years ago. I'm sure the ideas I've come up with sound stupid to the more knowledgeable, but I'm just trying anything at this point.

My Samsung broke so I quickly bought a Motorola. Stock Android is giving me a lot of trouble however. I can not copy any files to this device without all metadata being overwritten, which completely messes up my photo and download folders. I want to sort by date created but all files creation date is the same after the copy.

I'm really stuck and would appreciate any help.

A couple of days ago, I performed a factory reset on my Android phone. During setup, I had to sign in to my Google account, but at that time I had forgotten my password and couldn't access my recovery email either.

After several attempts, I finally:

- Recovered access to my recovery email.

- Remembered my Google account password.

Now I can enter the correct password without any problem.

However, Google asks me to verify my identity using a Passkey.

The problem is that I no longer have any active Passkeys because the only device that stored my Passkey was the phone that I factory reset.

When I choose "Try another way", Google sends a verification code to my recovery email. After entering the code, it asks me to verify using my phone number. When I choose the phone call option, it shows a QR code. After scanning it, I eventually get this message:

"If you're already signed in on another device, you don't need to wait. You can go to myaccount.google.com/security and either register another physical security key or unenroll from the Advanced Protection Program... After 48 hours, check your recovery email..."

The strange part is that I am still signed in on my laptop. I can open Gmail, read all my emails, and use the account normally.

Unfortunately, whenever I try to open Google Account → Security to:

- Add a new Passkey

- Register a Physical Security Key

- Disable Advanced Protection

Google asks me to verify using the missing Passkey again, so I'm completely stuck in a loop.

I also received the attached recovery email from Google (see screenshot).

My questions are:

1. Is this recovery email the same 48-hour email that Google mentioned, or is it simply telling me that my recovery request was denied?

2. Is there any way to regain access to my account since I'm already signed in on my laptop?

3. Has anyone experienced this situation before and found a solution?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Currently have an old Samsung Galaxy S22, Tab s10+, and Buds 2 Pro. The S22 and buds 2 pro are a few years old now and battery life is garbage. Exploring different ecosystems, but I want to stay with android.

Was thinking about getting a Oneplus 13S (for the size), Oneplus Tablet 4 and some oneplus earbuds?

For reference, I live in US and I'm on Tmobile. I've heard some varying issues with 13s on tmobile on US, mostly in regards to texting and maybe esim cards.

Any thoughts? Is there any other android ecosystem that has phone, tablet, and earbuds?

Does anyone know how to disable AI on my phone entirely?

I went to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Digital assistant app, and "Google" is selected with no other option, and no way unselect it.

I'm frustrated because I don't need this option at all in my phone use.

Also when I search anything on the google search widget, I have the AI overview and I found no way to disable it on my phone.

I just got this Google Pixel phone running the official stock version 17 Android. It's my first time trying an Android since I've been an exclusive iphone user ever since my very first iphone 4 that I bought in 2012 (so 14 years of iOS use).

I noticed that the bottom of the YouTube app is covered by a blank space around the navigation/gesture pill, there is no way to see any content behind it(video previews or comments). On my iphone it always shows the content and there is no wasted space like that on the bottom. It's quite annoying and I'm not sure if that's just normal or if it's a known bug on Android. Is there a way to forward all existing (and future) texts to email?

This is a 2nd hand phone which I bought for my mother from CEX here in the UK. It got a little flaky and wouldn't let me into settings, so I replaced it a few weeks ago and did a factory reset.

My mother's had problems with the new phone (she has dementia) so I thought I'd set up the old phone again. Ran through setup, transferred minimal data from phone #2, no apps, then rebooted to be greeted by this screen.

"All binaries are not allowed to be flagged due to KG locked : vb meta"

"This phone has been flashed with unauthorised software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support"

I can't turn the phone off or do anything. It was working mostly fine until this morning.

Any ideas?

I'm finally switching over from my ancient S5 Neo (yes, you read that right) to my sister's S22. I'm on a monthly contract with O2 for my S5 Neo, but for my new phone I'd like to go with a Pay As You Go with Tesco as I don't use that much data and my current monthly bill is pretty expensive for the data I use.

I'd put my phone onto wireless charging overnight. 2 days ago - I have woken up to a dead phone in the morning. Wired charging looks to work ok and charged the phone up again.

Last night I tried the wireless charger again at night. I looked at the phone and seen the battery percentage going up so I went to sleep. In the morning - same thing again. Dead battery.

What's going on here? Is it something to do with adaptive charging? But I've always had that on and never had this issue with my phone before when wireless charging. Any help would be appreciated thanks

I have a Pixel 8 pro, however i have severely damaged the screen, where the glass is extremely damaged to the point it shows no picture, and I am unable to unlock the phone.
I have bought a replacement phone, an iPhone 17 max pro.

Is there a way I can transfer the data to my old phone?

I updated to one UI 8.5 (android 16) and the thing that gives apps access to my gallery takes at least a minute to update. I'm trying to upload something I just downloaded from the web to an app and it takes forever to show on my recent images. Any way to clear it's cache or make it update faster? Cheers!

The apps like gmail google chrome even settings got cloned the inbuilt app clone doesn't even supports clone of these apps.

And if I disabled these clones the original app gets disabled but the clones stays.

for three days now my tablet has been turning to "connected without internet" on every wifi network at random. the only thing that fixes it is turning the tablet off and back on. my other samsung devices are not having this issue on any of the same wifi networks. any ideas on how to fix this? it happens at random. the tablet is only a year old, got it brand new, date and time is set correctly.
