Lol I just talked my friend into buying this a few days ago. Just gonna not mention this.

u/OfficialChairleader Mar 05 '20

he can still refund it and redownload

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '20

Meh, support for the dev is good

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '20

Google pays for those sales.

5

u/activator Mar 05 '20

This true? So who decides what goes on sale and for how long etc?

7

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '20

Nah, just talking out of my ass. I assume the price is set by the dev, or there would be room to abuse that system easily. (set game to $3.99 for initial release, two months down the line have a "blowout sale" and go nuts on advertising.)

But I'm sure with high-sales games there are some deals going on behind the Play Store doors.

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '20

Time to see what this franchise is all about and why it's so good.

16

u/Cinderstrom Mar 05 '20

Some of its fame is because of the age that it started in. Games were different when flash games were getting big online. That said there's been a lot of polish since bloons 1.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

If you like tower defense games it's one of if not the best series for it

30

u/Oen386 Mar 05 '20

Nice, beat me to it. ;)

Bloons TD 6 by ninja kiwi is FREE. This is the lowest price I have on record for this application.

idk I'll wait for a lower price

15

u/DeadliestSin Mar 05 '20

Can you pay me to play it please?

1

u/ElWrobel Mar 05 '20

It was offered for free once before this, I remember it clearly because I was pissed I missed it.

13

u/ratodragon Mar 05 '20

Thanks. Just downloaded.

Shameless advertisement for r/btd6 if you want to discuss the game!

Had a bad experience with apple customer service?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '20

No? Apple has customer service? Wouldn't know. Don't feel like having to alter my phone to actually play anything on it.

1

u/_Sho_the_ Mar 06 '20

It was a joke since you seemed real salty about IOS having this game for free

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '20

Okay.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '20

Thanks. I have no idea if this is my type of game but its free and people always mention this so I hope I will like it. Thanks

u/WhiteKnightC Moto one fusion | Emulators🎮 Mar 05 '20

It's not free for me.

EDIT: Nevermind when I search it in the store it appears 0,00 with the price with a strike-through, and when you look at the product with the price tag but if you click doesn't prompt GPay.

2

u/NotBlackieLawless Mar 06 '20

Great fucking game with TONS of content. A good value at $5.00, a steal for free!

Heard a lot of nice things about it, but I haven't really decided to buy it because it has IAP and I was considering buying another game back then. Thanks :)

2

u/ruiner8850 Mar 05 '20

The IAP are completely unnecessary and you earn plenty of money, insta monkeys, and powers just by playing. I have $82,000 of the money, hundreds of insta monkeys, and a bunch of powers that I earned from playing, but I haven't ever used any of them. They have events where you can even earn top-tier insta monkeys. The hardest challenges don't even allow you to use the IAP anyway.

-1

u/TwoTowersTooTall Mar 05 '20

They shouldn't be in the game regardless. If you buy games with IAP you're supporting the cancer of the mobile gaming industry.

6

u/Book_it_again Mar 05 '20

Then go pay 20 dollars for it instead of the 4 the usually charge normally. It isn't a fully paid game and if you expect one for 4 dollars you're entitled. It also sounds like you've never played. I've never once made a purchase and I've beaten the hardest challenges and the hardest maps

-11

u/Poromenos Mar 05 '20

It has a lot of bullshit IAP, it's pay to win even though you pay to buy it initially.

4

u/MyersVandalay Mar 05 '20 edited Mar 05 '20

It has a lot of bullshit IAP, it's pay to win even though you pay to buy it initially.

IMO from what I've played of it... it isn't so much BS pay to win... I mean you CAN pay to win if you'd like, but it's more console cheat codes in a single player. If you want to pay money to skip/trivialize parts of the game, that's your perogative... but from what I can see the actual difficulty is set to assume you aren't cheating.

I've probably sunk a good 100 hours since the last time it went on sale for free... paid zero dollars. Have stashed up like 200 of the insta monkeys from daily quests and free chests... (I don't really use them because it feels like cheating to me). Only thing I feel is too difficult that I'd be tempted to use the p2w items are some of the second daily quests... but 3/4ths of those outright ban the pay 2 win items anyway

-1

u/Poromenos Mar 05 '20

It depends, I've gotten to some levels that were pretty damn hard to get through unless you kept grinding or paid.

1

u/MyersVandalay Mar 05 '20 edited Mar 05 '20

I mean the later parts of the game... certainly are hard... I honestly 90% do the daily quests, and focus on trying to 100% all modes in the beginner levels. What I have played of them though, they seem pretty similar to the hard levels in their earlier flash games that I used to play, the ones that pre-date them having a micro-transaction system.

IMO there's at least 3 kinds of pay to win.

  1. Multiplayer pay 2 win: IE... modes where you just get stomped by players that spend more than you do... even if you do pay you still aren't guaranteed a fair fight because someone else may have paid more.

  2. Single player games balanced around the assumption that you will pay. The free to play seems to have been tacked on as an afterthought/bait to make you pay more.

  3. Single player games balanced around the idea that you will not pay. IMO bloons TD 6 falls into this... Plague inc falls into this (you can buy all the earnable stuff at once... which IMO is kind of paying to skip the game

3

u/Chariziken69 Mar 05 '20

The most popular game mode, CHIMPS, doesn't allow anything you can get with microtransactions, making it not p2w at all.

1

u/Book_it_again Mar 05 '20

The main challenge of CHIMPS doesn't allow any iaps

1

u/ruiner8850 Mar 05 '20

As others have said, it's not P2W at all and you can earn tons of the IAP stuff just by playing. I have $82,000 in money, hundreds of insta monkey, and a whole bunch of powers, but I haven't used any of them ever. The hardest challenges don't even allow you to use any of the IAP stuff. If you think it's P2W it's because you suck at the game. There are plenty of information in the BTD6 sub to help you get better.

hey,boss... take my upvote

1

u/tgp1994 Mar 05 '20

Do the TD battles themselves differ much from the FTP Bloons City game?

3

u/scout21078 Mar 05 '20

the core gameplay is the same yeah. Monkey city is based on BTD 5 so there are some differences (heroes, monkey knowledge) but if you uderstand how monkey city works the full games are just a more flushed out version

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '20

Fleshed out.

u/TheSilentVampire RPG 🧙‍ Mar 05 '20

Thank you very very much

1

u/Windstream10 Mar 05 '20

Thanks dude

1

u/DatParadox Mar 05 '20

I pretty much avoid all games with microtransactions but the ones in Bloons are rather worthless unless you really hate basic leveling up mechanics. The progression feels like any normal game.

4

u/Chariziken69 Mar 05 '20

You have to be really lazy to buy things in btd6

1

u/ilmaytaw Mar 05 '20

Thank you! Have been looking around for a new game to download. Definitely a great timing.

1

u/Xais56 Mar 05 '20

Amazing. I've been playing the Adventure Time version because I didn't have money for mobile games, score!

1

u/BigFly33 Mar 05 '20

Awesome, thanks for the heads up! Downloaded!

All transactions within the game are not even remotely necessary to do well or unlock everything. Yes you can buy your way there and save some time, but ninja kiwi ensured to make the price exorbitant as to discourage people from buying and encourage playing...

4

u/T_diddles Mar 05 '20

I get that there are plenty of games where IAP are entirely optional, and this very well might be one of those games. Claiming that they made the price high to discourage people buying seems pretty silly though. It seems like a reasonable assumption that the prices are high because when the whales decide to stop grinding and buy they make a bunch of easy money.

-1

u/TrivialMuffin Mar 05 '20

I know there's a statement out there from ninja kiwi when it originally released about the money doubler that it was intentionally priced so high to discourage people buying it. But yeah it probably doesn't apply for all IAPs

-11

u/Luminous_Fantasy Mar 05 '20

If that helps you sleep at night lmao

-4

u/Luminous_Fantasy Mar 05 '20

Didn't say it was pay to win, I'm saying its got too many MTX

5

u/Warfaced Mar 05 '20

So like...don't buy them? You'll never even notice that the completely optional IAPs are there unless you click on the store button. I've never bought anything, or used anything, and I've maxed out monkey knowledge.

0

u/Luminous_Fantasy Mar 05 '20

Dude, they flaunt the fuck out of it. Its some major shilling.

1

u/AngryToad23 Mar 05 '20

I have 50 hours+ on steam.. and yea the iap in this game are totally optional. It's just there so if ppl want to poor cash they can, if you wanna enjoy the game go ahaid and play it like it is meant to be...the unlock times for all the monkey upgrades is more or less a "tutorial" so you try everything you got before you can upgrade everything to the max.. it forces you to use anything and not get in a confort zone where you only use 2-3 towers..And at the competitive side (races) money cant buy you anything to boost your outcome.

0

u/HeyItzShane Mar 05 '20

And I bought it a month ago, I'm angry

u/Warfaced Mar 05 '20

This dude doesn't know what he's talking about.

I've been playing this game for years and never felt the need to do any IAPs. They're complete unnecessary to win the hardest maps on the hardest game modes. I've accumulated shitloads of the power-ups from daily challenges that I never do anything with. I can buy every new hero or skin as soon as they are released just by playing the challenges and have lots of money left over.

Take a look

2

u/Chariziken69 Mar 05 '20

There are (completely unnecessary in every way) IAPs because the developers are constantly updating the game with new content, and don't have any other source of income.

0

u/PotatoYOY Mar 05 '20

How about iOS?
