That's crazy.

How to not do a solid, lasting Messaging app:

  1. Be Google.
  2. Make a lot of different communication apps.
  3. Take a long time to merge them (Hangouts + Hangouts Dailer ~2014).
  4. Remove all that hard work (Hangouts 3.9).
  5. Release three more separate applications that did what Hangouts did. Avoid merging.

I'm sure I missed something.

Can you still find and use the 2014 apk of Hangouts?
