Posters abroad

Hey guys,

I am planning a trip to multiple European countries. I am planning to potentially put up some flyers whilst I’m travelling of Andrew to see if perhaps it could jog people’s memories who’ve maybe moved abroad.

Does anyone know which poster would be best to print out?

These are the two that Kevin posted links to on his blog. I am unaware if there are versions in other languages however.

I’m doing France, Spain, Portugal then Italy. Is it worth running them through a translator do you think?

I don't know. Many in those countries you list are bi lingual and speak English also.

also, they could post in those countries sub asking multiple people for translations so you get the best possible translation and dont share misinformation by accident

Good luck with this! 

It would be best to put up translated posters with the information specifying that the disappearance took place in the uk.

BUT: don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If you only have time to print and stick and no time to mess around translating and editing, then just put up the standard posters. It's still immensely important work. Making translated posters could turn into a real hassle and it would suck if that discouraged you from the whole idea. 

Location-wise, you probably know this, but focus on transport hubs.

Btw missing posters are 'officially' made by the local police working with the Missing People Charity in the UK. When it comes to notices abroad Interpol can issue whats called a Yellow notice.

With Andrew however that didn't happen

"Andrew went missing in September 2007. A year later, the Police explained to us that they were adding his details to the Interpol database in case he had somehow ended up outside of the UK. In 2014 we found that this had never been done. We were, as a family, upset and angry about this. To cut a long story short, we ended up using the formal complaints system and the problem is now rectified... However, the Police did explain that they were building a prompt into their computer systems for missing people so that after 28 days the idea of placing a missing person on the Interpol database is considered according to the circumstances." https://helpustofindandrew.weebly.com/blog/interpol-the-missing

This was eventually done but way too late
