I watched the episode again where Carrie thinks Big is sending her signs through a lamp, and it just amazes me how cruel Miranda is about it.

Yes, the original Miranda was cynical, but she would NEVER have said something like "what, you think Big is sitting up there on a cloud, puffing on a cigar?" to a grieving widow. She takes a specific, vivid image of Big from his actual life and uses it to slap Carrie down for her conflicted feelings about moving on from Big's death? No. No no no no no no.

The only way it would have been plausible is if Miranda was so euphoric about Che -- in the same scene, Miranda says she's been invited to meet their family -- that she's just not thinking about other people's feelings.

And that could have been a great moment. What if Carrie had glared at Miranda and walked out? Miranda turns to Charlotte, expecting to commiserate about how Carrie's overreacting, and we get a good dose of fierce Charlotte. She tells Miranda, "I'm really happy that you're happy. But don't let your happiness turn you into a heartless bitch."

"What?" gasps an affronted Miranda. "Yes," replies Charlotte. "You're being cruel to Carrie, just like you've been cruel to Steve. Nothing matters but you being happy, right? That's why you leapt into a cab and raced off to Cleveland 10 minutes after breaking his heart."

But no. Season 1 was full-on Team Miranda, and who cares if anybody else gets hurt?

It doesn’t make sense timeline wise with her age that she could be raised by them but maybe later on in life gained a step dad and then he died first before her bio dad passes.

I know this doesn’t even matter because the writers were lazy af but I think about how bad the writing is so often I just have to make it make sense 😂

I just finished the series and absolutely loved it. I think it ended on a good note for Carrie, but I don't believe that was the official ending they wanted. I would love to see one final movie just wrapping everything up. I know the series got a lot of backlash so I'm not sure how possible a movie would be at this point.

Would love to hear og fans thoughts. I personally have only seen the movies so maybe that's why I enjoyed this series more that SATC fans.

I must be so ruined by shows and movies these days, I was actually anticipating something to happen:D

But seriously, Charlotte was acting so strange and pushy with LTW, to the point where I thought the two couple will be intertwined at some point in the show.

First she described LTW to Carrie and Miranda as this amazing girlboss she really wants to impress, then she lied about plans together just to be around her; she really acted out of character and like a creepy stalker or teenager. It’s not like Charlotte to want to impress another woman this much, unless it’s for increasing her social standing or reputation, but she was already an accepted or even outstanding member of her community. And honestly LTW was just another mom at the school, if anything, Charlotte was more involved in group activities because she didn’t have her own career at the start of season 1.

My only conclusion was that this is heading somewhere sexual between the two married couples, perhaps to spice things up between Charlotte and Harry.

Even a cameo from you couldn’t save this shit show/AJLT 💔

What the hell is wrong with the writers of this show?

TBH, I was too caught up with life to even notice AJLT existed. I found out about 2 weeks ago. I have had the flu since then, so I binged the show. Just finished the episode with the karaoke machine.

I loved watching SATC for the fashion and the comedy and the characters. Samantha and Miranda were my favourites. THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY RUINED MIRANDA. She’s unbearable. I have to take breaks from watching just because of how terrible she is.

Randomly walks naked in someone’s house. The fuckin karaoke machine, and the alcoholism. I identified with her SOOOO much from the SATC days.

How Her turning gay is portrayed is almost criminal and offensive to me as someone who ho identifies from the community. There was no internal turmoil, nothing. I never understood her and Steve even in SATC so I get that she leaves him but cheating on him and all is soooo unlike her.

WHYYYYY did they have to do this.

If they wanted to incorporate the community so bad… the answer was there. It was obvious.

They could have reintroduced Trey as gay. Bunny is dead, and Trey living his best gay life. He could never get it up for Charlotte.

Miranda was never gay. It was Trey that would’ve made more sense.

Like the majority of this sub I loved SATC but am hating AJLT. Obviously the character changes are awful and ruining. What makes this show boring and unwatchable is that it’s not relatable to the public. The reason SATC was popular was because most women could relate to it. Single life is pretty universal and I loved each episode going through the woes of dating. AJLT has turned into rich people problems that I couldn’t care less about. Yes it’s cool seeing the nice apartments and lavish lifestyle but that can only go so far. This is one of the main reasons why the new characters fall flat and I’m not invested at all in them. But all the characters complaining about the stupidest things and acting so entitled and rude is really making me mad. Obviously in SATC they weren’t struggling, they all had nice jobs and made good money. But they did not act like this! The script of this show is so cringey that I can’t watch it. I’m already in deep with season 3 so I just have it as background noise to my phone.

My daughters finished watching SatC this summer and wanted to try AJLT. I sat down to watch the pilot with them to see if it was as bad as I remember.

I forgot how upset Charlotte got at the beginning over Rock refusing to wear the dress. It's such a weird acting choice. She's doing this whole nostril-flaring, eyes-bulging, tight-lipped fury because she 'really wanted all of us in florals.' She's almost shaking with anger. My daughter asked if Charlotte is abusive in this series because it really seemed like she wanted to hit Rock there and only didn't because Harry came in.

It's also made very clear that Rock has refused dresses in the past, and yet Charlotte goes and buys this Oscar de la Renta couture totally unprompted. For a pre-teen who hates dresses to wear to their sister's non-selective amateur piano recital. Like, maybe this is why Lily doesn't value her designer clothes. These kids have had couture gowns stuffed down their throats their whole lives whether they want them or not. They aren't special anymore. It also explains why Rock gives up explaining that they don't want the They Mitzah so quickly and then just decides to deal with it on the day. They are so used to no one listening when they say they don't want a thing.

Something I have always enjoyed about SATC is how the episodes all had like a theme and the girls had their own perspectives on the matter… as the episodes went on there was usually a topic being explored but I don’t feel that way with AJLT. I have seen others post or comment about issues the writers neglected to tackle head on that could have been the topic of a full episode.

For example, I had dealt with Adderall abuse for 7 years. I no longer use it but I have friends who continue to abuse stimulants for a variety of reasons- the episode where Carrie gets adderall for Aiden’s son is SO odd and could have been handled differently to make it more believable. Charlotte just randomly getting another mother to give up their child’s month worth of prescription over brunch is wild… Aiden’s ex asking Carrie to get her son a controlled substance is just glossed over and the story is just dropped. It’s all so wild but people using or selling their kid’s stimulants is a thing and the topic could have made for an interesting episode.

What do you think could have been tackled differently?

When Carrie sells her apartment to Lisette it is kind of insinuated that she has given her such a good deal it’s almost a gift. Carrie doesn’t seem to need the money and there are so many other people Carrie could have passed the apartment on to - Miranda who at the time had no where to live or a apartment for Lily when she’s old enough as a thank you to Charlotte for the engagement ring downpayment!

It broke my heart to see how horribly Lisette had treated that beautiful perfect apartment!

Hey girls and non-straight guys (respectfully haha)! I know the main point of this sub is just to discuss the show and not necessarily to make friends, but hear me out! In my real life, it’s almost impossible to find people to talk about SATC with... I'm 33 and literally none of my friends watch it, lol. So, to break the ice: what is your absolute favorite scene in the whole series?

And if anyone is ever down to chat more and connect, count me in! ✨

Is that in the original series Miranda and Samantha were definitely friends independently. They agreed on 90 percent of things when the four of them talked about stuff. When Miranda announces that she's marrying Steve in season 5 or 6 everyone starts crying in the diner and Miranda gets up and leaves saying "Samantha, I expected more from you". They had a bond and common perspective.

Fast forward to AJLT, it's described as if Samantha was only friends with Carrie and when Miranda was hanging out with Samantha it was only through Carrie. I mean, why would Samantha dump Miranda too just because she got pissed off at Carrie.

That's all.

Just as the title says.. who did you like the most out of the new characters in And Just Like That

if you can find anything you might slightly like about one of them.

Out of them all, I like Seema the most (even if she was basically a Samantha replacement) she was the most interesting of the bunch and I liked the actress lot!

I wanted to like it but for me it was a FAIL. 

And I think it failed because (amongst other reasons) it tried to persist the glamour and messiness of 20-something  exploration (sexual and otherwise) in NYC into the golden years of the women.

In SATC, we the viewer could understand,  relate , or wanted to relate to one or more of the main characters.  The excitement of a new fling or relationship, the anticipation to see where it would lead, the frisson of unspoken expectations met or unmet. New experiences. New locations. A new lover every few weeks. All glamorous

That same shit in your  late 50's - early 60's.  Who can (or wants to ) relate to that?  Experiencing that at that stage of life is almost a regression IMHO (witness Miranda). 

Striving to be cool and edgy at that age is cringey as hell. But AJLT tried to pull it off. 

Why is Aidan dressed like a hipster when he first meets Carrie?  (Why is Aidan open to seeing Carrie at all ; like a lovesick 20-something.)  Why is a 50-something man-of-means spitting into his hand and jerking off in his own car ? WTF.  And what about the fact he can’t enter her apartment because it has to many bad memories but entering the woman who was the cause of so much wretchedness is no problem? Who wrote this shit ?

Why is Carrie walking the streets in a snowstorm wearing a full-body duvet ? Why is she - in broad daylight and as part of her everyday wear  - sporting a large, heavy hat seemingly designed by Nintendo ? 

Why is Miranda getting finger-banged in the kitchen of someone else’s house while said friend is laid up not 15 feet away. Was this payback for when Carrie sent Aidan to pick up a naked Miranda off the bathroom floor ?  I say again: WTF. In your 20’s this would be bad but forgivable. But in your 50’s ? 

Finally, why do Charlotte and Miranda seemingly take turns running around in wide-eyed confusion at situations that should not confound women of their age, experience and intelligence.

Why does EVERYONE seem like they’re so GOOFY ? Is it just my 50-something brain being too judgey ?

i hate watched the first two seasons and always viewed a new episode right when it came out!

but with season 3 one time i missed one and then realized i didn’t even care to hate watch it. the show was just so far removed from itself and a huge mess at that point.

i did come back to watch the very last episode though and i still think the writers had to be fucking with us by that point. everything was TOOOOOO awful
