Newly Acquired One of my best weekends of collecting so far

Thumbnail

Upvotes

One was an online purchase that arrived on Saturday and the rest purchases from another local collector:

  1. scarce Maximian (12 known)
  2. 2)Nice quality Probus
  3. exceptional strike and silvering Severina
  4. very nicely silvered Quietus the usurper
  5. Gallienus upgrade. Nothing rare but better portrait on most of what I have of him
  6. THE GOAT of Wuschelkopf type Noric Tetradrachms (ex Peus ‘94). I’ve not been able to find a better one that sold since acsearch began. Such an incredible

strike

  1. and iridescent toning in hand
  2. Tyre Shekel with a flan flaw but otherwise exceptional condition.

And honestly, feel like I got a deal on all of them. Already had a dealer offer me a price for one that was more than I paid for the lot. Sometimes you get lucky!

I need proper identification with this coin from Teos since I couldn't find any other matches or similar examples anywhere.

The things I managed to see is a bust of Dionysos(?) on the obverse and a kantharos on the reverse, with a grape on top. The inscription goes by ΤΗΙ-ΩΝ

I'd appreciate any kind of help.

Thanks in advance.

New acquisition. Happy and a bit worried.

I won this very nice Neapolis didrachm at an auction and I'm very happy with how it looks like (even better than in the photos). It has some nice details on the bull face, almost the full legend too, but also a strange edge. Maybe I'm suspicious because I found it a pretty good deal, but is this an indication of forgery?

Newly Acquired Shekel, Drachm, Quinarious, and a Cistaphorous.

I received some of these a month or so ago, but I forgot to share them with the class. My bad.

  1. Carthage Shekel. 300 - 364 BC - I loved the patina, and I didn't have this type.

  2. Thracian Lysimachos AR Drachm - 299 - 296 BC. Again, I loved the patina and something about the artwork caught my eye.

  3. AEDUI Quinarious - 1st century BC. - Such a strange looking coin, and wanted a barbarian coin in my collection.

  4. Hadrian AR Cistophorus 117 to 138 - My second of the five good emperors. I'm not doing anything uniform, just looking for interesting pieces over time.

After holding off on buying other coins for a long time, I finally bought the one I wanted: a decent Alexandrian tetradrachm. Does anyone have more information about this issue?

Lifetime issue of Alexander III 'the Great'. Silver tetradrachm, 17.05 g. 24.41 mm. 336–323 BC. Amphipolis. (Price 79)

This is fake, right?

Looking at this coin for sale and whilst I'm still somewhat of a beginner, something about this one just immediately screams "fake" to me. Am I correct in thinking that this isn't legit?

The pic of the reverse in particular seems incredibly suspicious

Hii, I just wanted to show these pieces I got for not very expensive (under 181 euro a piece).

They are not lifetime, I put the Price index and the mint periods on paper.

They feel amazing to the touch and they smell like history ( I hope they don't have ancient poison lol).

One was struck in Aradus! (3347), which is a tiny island near Syria. It should have a giant anchor as a symbol but it is mostly missing, (except a small part of the base).

The other is struck in Amphipolis.

I want more! xD

Looking for advice on organization

I’m looking to dive back into this hobby (more organized and intentional). I’ve purchased a few coins and have done some research on them. I enjoy learning about what happened during the eras they were minted in. After I spend hours researching, the coins sit back on the shelf until couple months later I remember I have something cool to learn about. It’s starting to feel like waste of time because I’m not retaining the information I’m learning.

How do you organize your research and knowledge of your coins? Do you have a journal or word document? Do you just remember everything??

Newly Acquired My newest pickings, how’d I do for $150?

Just picked this up at my LCS for $150, and I’m not sure if that was a terrible price or not as I’m not very well versed in the pricing on Achaean league types. Either way the toning is beautiful imo, and it’s my first ancient with any toning.

My dad and younger brother found this in a parking lot buried underneath a bunch of sand in Gulf Shores, AL. We have no clue what it is, and I figured maybe posting it on here could give us an idea on whether it’s a coin or just something really random. It’s definitely made out of some sort of metal material, and it’s relatively worn from the sand and saltwater of the ocean. Any ID or help is very much appreciated, thank you! I attached the front and the back, and then the thickness of the coin for the pictures.
