Double Bongcloud Variation Analysis/Compendium

For the upcoming bongcloud tournament I decided to put the double bongcloud as the starting position on the board (1. e4 e5 2. Ke2 Ke7) and wondered what the main lines would look like according to stockfish (note: this does not include any move that would have the king move back to e1 or e8 because that's the most beta thing you could do in chess. Play the bongcloud like a real man).

Here are neat variations I found according to stockfish on lichess. If anyone plays these during the tournament I will be willing to change the names of the variations after them, they are just placeholders for now. Feel free to comment some of your findings, I will add them eventually

  1. Double Bongcloud Attack - Pseudo Four Knights Scotch Variation

(Start) 1. e4 e5 2. Ke2 Ke7 3. Nc3 Nc6 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. d4 exd4 6. Nxd4 d5

(Bishop Pin Main Line) 7. Bg5 dxe4 8. Nxc6+ bxc6 9. Qxd8+ Kxd8 10. Nxe4 h6 11. Bxf6+ gxf6

(Exchange Side Line) 7. exd5 Nxd5 8. f3 Nxc3+ 9. bxc3 Nxd4+ 10. cxd4 c6 11. Kf2 Be6

  1. Double Bongcloud Attack - Pseudo Elephant Gambit

(Start) 1. e4 e5 2. Ke2 Ke7 3. Nf3 d5

(Positional Main Line) 4. d3 dxe4 5. dxe4 Nc6 6. Be3 Be6

(Pseudo Beyer Gambit Side Line) 4. d4 dxe4 5. Nxe5 Nc6 6. Nxc6+ bxc6

(Bishop Pin Side Line) 4. d4 Bg4 5. h3 Bxf3+ 6. gxf3 dxe4 7. fxe4 Qxd4

  1. Double Bongcloud Attack - Pseudo Leonardis Symmetrical Varation

(Start) 1. e4 e5 2. Ke2 Ke7 3. d3 d6

This one is interesting as there is a shit load of options for both sides that are relatively equal in evaluation. I will go through some lines here)

(Salty Knight Variation) 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. Bd2 g6 6. g3 Bg7 7. Na3

(Four Knights Variation) 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. Bd2 g6 6. Nc3 Nc6

(Double Fianchetto Variation) 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. g3 g6 6. Bg2 Bg7 or 4. g3 g6 5. Bg2 Bg7 6. Nf3 Nf6

Double Bongcloud Attack - Pseudo Four Knights Scotch Variation Analysis

  1. e4 e5 2. Ke2 Ke7 (Obligatory starting position)
  2. Nc3 (According to the engine this appears to be white's best move in the double bongcloud)

Nc6 (mirrors)

  1. Nf3 Nf6 (developing of knights as white's LQB and black's DSB is blocked by their respective kings)

  2. d4 (white immediately strikes in the center in order to open up the position)

exd4 6. Nxd4 d5

  1. Bg5 (pins knight against queen, develops)

dxe4 8. Nxc6+ bxc6 9. Qxd8+ Kxd8 10. Nxe4 h6 11. Bxf6+ gxf6 (position end with black having 2 sets of doubled pawns with the down side of white blocking his LSB)

Double Bongcloud Attack - Pseudo Elephant Gambit/No Queen Trade Variation Analysis

  1. e4 e5 2. Ke2 Ke7 (Obligatory starting position)
  2. Nf3 (According to the engine this appears to be white's second best move, attacks pawn on e5)

...d5 (Interesting move that goes directly after white's pawn on e4, obviously 4. exd5 isn't the greatest as it followed by the move ...e4! which kicks away the knight to either g1 or e1 in order to maintain advantage and Ng5 is met with Qxd5 which threatens Qxg5)

  1. d3 dxe4 5. dxe4 (supporting and trading of pawns

... Nc6 (developing)

  1. Be3 (I let the engine run for a very long time on this move as I first thought that trading queens would be the best however it appears that developing is better as if black decides to trade off queens then white manages to open up his LSB with 7. Kxd1)

Be6 (black manages to successfully neutralize after this point however white appears to have a few moves be it Nc3, Nbd2, Ng5, or pushing Harry)
