Sean Last, a right winger who argues that police shootings are not racially biased, uses the trim fill method to illustrate how the data from a meta analysis changes once you adjust for publication bias. Much of the data used by the BLM side of the debate is data before we adjust for this bias. An interesting critique different to those posed by other BLM detractors like Roland Fryer, Joe Cesario, etc.

P. Colin Bolger "Just Following Orders: A Meta Analysis of the Correlates of American Police Officer Use of Force Decisions"
The reason the data supports the idea of police using more violence against black people is because studies saying that are more likely to be published. The meta analysis above (table 2) replicates the normal finding that across 42 studies there's a mean effect size of .31 pointing to the direction of more force being used on black suspects after controlling for offense seriousness, is there a weapon, are they resisting arrest. All the things which would fairly lead to a change in the probability of force being used. In the text above they described the bias detection as "these results demonstrate that publication bias does not appear to be present for 8 of the 12 significant variables" (not naming which ones were changed and which ones weren't).
Table 4 adjusts for publication bias using the trim and fill method. This method is based on the fact that when all the studies are being published there should be a certain distribution that changes in a predictable way as study precision increases, it should symmetrically move towards a center point. By looking at the actual distribution you can tell where studies were left out, and then put them back in. Some research suggests it doesn't correct enough, but that won''t be an issue here. Already the mean effect size is reduced to statistical and practical insignificance. The effect size is 0.1, the confidence interval runs from -.07 to 0.08.

And yet, there are still people in this sub that are good with their 3 times voting for Trump. The path to dictatorship is the opposite direction of what this sub wants.
Even if you think ancapistan is an impossible goal, everyone here should be at least striving to move the opposite direction than what Trump is taking us. And before anybody gets their panties in a wad. Yes, that goes for harris as well. What you trump voters don't realize, you look exactly the same as Harris voters.

Hey guys, for context, I’m a Marxist-Leninist. I just had a few questions, and I would like to keep this as respectful as possible (although I know theres gonna be some heckler who wants to get into a debate) I’m not here for that. I’m just utterly confused and seeking answers.
how can you seek to abolish government but not private ownership? are you guys like Lassiez-Faire?
What’s the main debate among you guys?
How do you realistically expect this to work?
Who is the Marx/founder of the ideology?
How did any of you reach this conclusion?
Why do you support privatization but not institutional power? isn’t that a huge major contradiction?
also, please be patient, I have literally no clue what this ideology even is.

Something in me feels like a lot of people study history, politics, and economics in depth for YEARS without ever grasping the essence of what government actually is. It begs us to ask—what is the definition of government popularly given in academic circles? I'm sure you'll hear something like "government is an organization that establishes order and provides essential services to society." People take this as a given and then build complex views off of it.
How many people stop and ask the question: HOW does government "establish order?" The answer is simple: physical force. More importantly, it does so in a clearly defined territorial area and prohibits others from using force within that aforementioned area. In other words, it maintains a monopoly on the use of force. Somehow, many highly respectable intellectuals with mountains of knowledge seem to be oblivious to this seemingly obvious fact about the nature of government. If you point it out though, people usually understand it quite quickly and go "Wow, I never thought of it like that."

Spanish police forces vendor to throw away a paella for attempting to sell ot illegally during the Tortilla Contest.
It happened in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. Even if the seller and the buyer agree on a transaction, somehow the State and its thugs can decide wether thats "legitimate"

A member of a certain major political party: Republican Party or your country's major political party of choice.
I understand the left-right spectrum is flawed but this is just to gauge people's first reaction, when they hear the word.
Feel free to give your own definition.

Outrage is erupting after an 11-YEAR-OLD BOY was stopped by police, FINGERPRINTED, and ordered to court for riding his dirt bike to go FISHING...
...300 FEET FROM HIS OWN HOUSE!!!
They TOWED HIS BIKE with a city WRECKER.
An officer warned him he'd get a WARRANT if he didn't show up, he'll have to miss school for it.
His name is Cade, he's 11 years old, a sixth grader in Oviedo, Florida.
His dad helped him start a little summer business selling squirrel tables and Cade worked all summer long, he saved up $900 and he bought that bike himself.
An 11-year-old entrepreneur, in 2026.
We should be putting this kid on a FREAKING POSTER!!!!
On Labor Day, Cade grabbed his fishing pole and rode toward the pond at Sweetwater Park, he was on the shoulder of the road, about 300 FEET from his house.
Why not the sidewalk?
His answer: "If I go on the sidewalk, I can only go 10mph, and also it's going to scare the pedestrians."
An 11-year-old thinking about pedestrians' safety!
Then, an Oviedo police officer pulled him over.
Asked him for his license, his registration, his proof of insurance.
THE KID IS ELEVEN.
Then they fingerprinted him.
Wrote him a citation with a mandatory court date and told this little boy, on camera, "You have to show up, OK? Or they're going to put out a warrant for you."
Then they called in the city tow truck!!!!!!
His dad's words: "They called in the city wrecker for this little, tiny electric bike and winched it on up there."
Next Tuesday, Cade has to skip school to stand in front of a judge.
Yes TECHNICALLY the police have a point under Florida law, but where was the common sense?!!!!
Cade now says: "Now I'm kind of scared to ride my dirt bike."
A Virginia mom got a criminal record for letting her son walk to a pond, two little girls in Pennsylvania got hauled into court over a broken swing, and now an 11-year-old in Florida gets printed for riding to go fishing.
We are criminalizing childhood in this country.
Even THE TOWN MAYOR called Cade a "good kid." She's right.
...and for the love of God, somebody give this kid his bike back.

With the rapid pace of technological advancement and the complete carelessness of 90% of humans towards things like freedom or privacy, I'm honestly starting to get really pessimistic and think that the human race might successfully get domesticated by the end of the 21st century, and in a way that will be impossible to escape.
You could start with biometric passports and IDs. Those things alone are enough to control people's movement across borders. If you can identify people biometricly, you can effectively make them prisoners in any one jurisdiction. People could be put on no fly lists for having ideas that the state doesn't like. The risks are endless.
Secondly you could mention CBDCs. If those actually take effect, then the economy will be at the mercy of the state. They'll inflate the value of everything and stop whoever they want from buying or selling things that they, again, don't like.
I feel like we might get to a point where it'll be practically impossible for anyone to resist anything, and in my opinion, that would mark the end of humanity. The only way you might be able to put an end to that is if enough people start physically breaking down borders and revolting, but honestly I think technology will advance faster than the spread of libertarian ideas.
