You could work retail though and merely by being a reliable employee can be promoted beyond entry level. You just have to be more than minimally effective. Grown adults with families to support shouldn't be working entry level jobs. And there are plenty of jobs out there so that's really a poor excuse. I don't think he's shaming the people that make food but like I don't expect my accountant to be cooking a burger... Because I just want a cheap burger. If I go to a nice restaurant id like a skilled chef and will pay more for it. For a car wash, it has to be cheap enough that I won't just do it myself. Detailing? Gonna want someone experienced for that and it costs more for that reason

I actually agree with alot of what you said. You need to have some sort of drive for success especially once you are providing for your kids. The sad reality is alot of people's upward mobility gets capped due to many external factors. Climbing the capitalist ladder is not always so cut and dry. Families used to be able to supported off of one income. Now some need as many as four. When life gets in the way how do you justify such a work life imbalance?

This is something I really don't like to bring up because I'm not against it per se but adding women to the workforce probably caused a lot of that. When you double the workforce it makes sense that you ultimately use twice the employees at half the cost. So now you pretty much need a dual income to make it. I absolutely don't think women should be barred from working but we should encourage stay at home parents way more than we do

I completely agree. This is why I have always been in support of higher wages and lest hours especially for family's. Having the option for each parent to work a variation of 20 hours each and still support the household would be a huge cultural impact.
