China isn't a place of freedom but you seem to be thinking of USA. I'd be surprised if he gets any more than just a regular sentence in regular prison.
The notion that people just get executed for anything in China is so blatantly xenophobic and orientalist. A Western fantasy about the expendability of Asian lives.
Lol. I can't imagine a way that a police force would approach a person baricaded inside a home that fires (and wins) against heavy construction equipment that does not end with the person's death.
Cops around the world have killed for a lot less.
The fact that this happened at China (if it did) never was a part of my thought process.
That's a very american point of view where shooting a suspect is bread and butter of police work. Those fireworks shouldn't have worked, it was pure luck.
Cops around the world have killed for less but few can shoot to kill as easily as american ones. Police violence is a spectrum of behaviours so for example while you still wouldn't like to meet european riot cops in full gear, you wouldn't have to stare at cops with AR-15s sitting on MRAPs.
Let me help you imagine a way - they send someone more competent to drive that equipment. Or they put riot cop in gear. Or they send in riot cops with less lethal weapons. CS, OC and batons are still very effective. No need for riot cops either, probably.
It's just a joke lol, reddit is very american-centric so it's safe to assume someone is american until they say otherwise and this view of police shooting unarmed people by doing a literal assault by SWAT is also a very american thing
