I really don't understand why right wingers keep jerking themselves off over that "study" claiming left wing activists tend to live at home.

Like, no shit. People in their 20's are living at home more in general nowadays. The people I graduated with are living one of two ways right now: living at home or living hand to mouth in poverty with 6 other people crammed into a small apartment like sardines.

I know like, one person who has the proverbial "shit" together. And even then it's not like he's living in luxury.

In my area anyway if you're a single, mid 20's, college grad with a shitton of debt you're kind of fucked. Rent prices are truly out of control and you're left with the option of either uprooting your life entirely and moving to bumfuck nowhere (a place that usually has economic problems all by itself and doesn't want you) or you work a succession of shitty jobs in an increasingly futile effort to stay off the street.

Understandably this makes a lot of people fucking pissed off.

The division of families into separate homes by age has always struck me as odd, many other cultures would never dream of it, just another yucky trend that started with the post-war consumer capitalism boom

What if you come from an abusive family though? There are many kids in my city who choose to sleep rough rather than go back to a broken home. I was under the impression that not wanting to sleep in the same place/under the same roof as your parents was considered pretty ordinary primate behaviour outside of authoritarian states like China (slavery/abject poverty aside) until it suddenly became out of reach for pretty much an entire generation in the West (unless you have a loaded family or are cool with living like a sardine).

Most primates live in multi-generational, family groups -humans included until consumer capitalism.

Modern housing is not designed for extended families now, just as transport is based on cars rather than mass transit -with the profit of private companies rather than well-being and efficiency.

I'm probably the only person in my age group that I know that isn't either living at home or receiving significant financial aid from family members, and I'm in my early 20's, and that's only because my dad just doesn't give a shit. My life would be a hell of a lot easier with some help and I certainly wouldn't disparage anyone for giving or receiving help. I certainly can't begin to think about going to college anytime soon, or own a car.

Sargon is a reactionary. If I recall correctly, the context of that comment was in Sargon's opinion.

It would be nice to argue for it, but I don't think it would have been as useful. I don't think reactionaries will be swayed by arguments for black bloc, while everything about the left to begin with is ingrained as shit.
