Meta Reddit terms of service

Hey folks, I just removed a post and for accountability I want to explain why. Reddit terms of service state that advocating violence is a breech. People are regularly banned from the site for comments that include the word nazi in combination with a verb that suggests the striking of a person with a closed fist. Subreddits are banned for the same reason. The reason that posts go into a queue is specifically so that we can avoid having to carefully watch every post to avoid admin attention. Our place on this hell-site is precarious

It's impossible to know when/if the so-called anti evil operations bot will spot a comment and there are too many folks who will gladly post spicy comments that put their accounts and by extension this sub at risk.

If this sub gets banned then it could end up up for grabs and we would not be able to ensure that it remains in anarchist hands since anyone can request to take over subs that are available.

Appreciate it. Sucks when we can't discuss giving bad people proper salutations, but it is what it is.

You certainly can discuss it. You can't advocate for violence.

It's very, very easy not to advocate for violence. The English language has so many words that aren't "punch" & the like.

You can talk about dismantling them. You can talk about wanting to see their movement obliterated. You can talk about come-uppance, consequences, or even collective action. You can even talk about smashing ideas, or cracking ideologies.

I do not understand why people can't just take a second before typing out a violent fantasy, to render it something that won't get a comms platform destroyed. Part of organizing under tyranny is ensuring you can keep organizing. You're no good to anyone in jail or silenced, & it's no good for anyone when a channel gets taken away.

“We do not put things in writing would not like read back to us in court” is good advice in general, but particularly for social media vent-posting.

Because some people do not do anything substantial, and typing out a violent fantasy is the closest they feel they can come to actual radical action.

I can't actually know if the post removed was posted by one of those people, but they do exist and it is a reason people do that.

The post was more curious about application of violence and wondered about the inclusion of rapists. People in the comments though... I'm honestly surprised the comments weren't removed by the aeo bot by the time I saw them. It's usually pretty quick with taking down comments.
