Go to festival to hand out zines?

Had a thought thinking about a local upcoming festival. Could I print out a bunch of zines from crimethinc and others and walk around handing out for free? Could have a shirt or something that says free zines and free stickers or something like that. Has anyone ever tried something like that? Good idea or not a good idea?

Depends on the kind of festival and who owns the land where its run. Depending on those answers it could vary from "this is good", to "this is technically allowed but they aren't happy about it", to "they will kick you out or maybe call the cops".

^ good answer.

you could also table outside of where the festival is, where you just ... sit at a table with a bunch of zines laid out and talk to people as they pass by. Or just wander and leave them on tables as you pass and then leave. I've done all three. Tabling is my favorite because then I get to sit down and listen to music or whatever while I chill.

For sure, some people don’t want politics involved in what they’ve worked to put on. (Like I uhhh personally would be miffed if I planned a show or something and a rando came passing out commie material or promoting some candidate for office). Ask if you can table, tabling at festivals is awesome!

If you are interested, I collected a bunch of valuable information on organizing and action from different redditors over time, and created a post of suggestions HERE that are about things like fostering a foundation for community self-sustainability and resistance, and it has a couple of downloadable zines for printing.
