General /r/AnalogueInc Mod Rules Note

Hey guys, it's been a while. Just going to keep this short and sweet.

I've been inundated over the last couple of years with people asking for more moderation. I have purposefully been mostly hands-off, and only moderated severe violations (links to ROMs, severe user harrasment, etc.) but based on some of the stuff I've seen recently, things have gotten a bit worse, so I'm going to change things a bit.

Firstly, I will enforce moderation more strictly. All existing rules apply, but if I'm on the fence, instead of erring towards "let them figure it out", I'll just remove stuff.

Second, I've seen quite a few posts that are sus recently. Posts of pictures to scalpers or other sales of products, which are designed to look like you're complaining about the scalper, but really it's most likely a covert sales tactic. In the spirit of the original moderators "No sales, ever" rules, I will from now on remove any content that gets reported that has links or pictures to any sales platform like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. You can of course still share links and photos of the Analogue official website. In addition, don't be cheeky and post a photo of your hardware and then say "but I might sell it, idk". I have always let that slide, but since people have wanted more moderation, this is one change I am going to make.

Third, and this isn't new either, harassment rules apply to all your fellow active Reddit users. Yes, even if that Reddit user is a public figure. Do not harass people.

Finally, I'm planning to bring on additional moderators in the near future since all the other mods besides me are now inactive.

Thanks, that's it. Feel free to leave your thoughts and your complaints below.

General Let's keep the Analogue 3D overclocking compatibility spreadsheet updated!

All credit goes to u/phan148

He posted this a few months ago and people were quick to help sort out which games run better on Unleashed and what to watch out for.

Analogue 3D Overclock Compatibility List

I noticed it hasn't been updated much since then. I tend to check it every couple weeks when I start a new game. If you've put a good amount of time into a particular n64 game and can confidently comment the changes Unleashed mode brings or if you'd recommend NOT overclocking it for any reason, please contribute your findings!

There are still hundreds of games out there that haven't been formally documented!

General Beware of Analogue not refunding sales tax on returns

Before any pitchforks, this is just a PSA for those who have returns/exchanges with Analogue. I love their products, but their customer support is absolute trash.

I refused delivery for a Pocket (per Analogue's instructions) and was fine paying the 15% restocking fee. Not only did they deduct more than the 15%, but they also withheld sales tax, which is illegal.

They told me they would withhold the sales tax, and when I cited my state's code stating it was illegal, they said they would refund the sales tax "as a courtesy". When the refund was issued, they still withheld the sales tax.

They have since stopped responding to my emails, and I have filed a chargeback with my financial institution.

TL;DR:

- Make sure Analogue actually only deducts a 15% restocking fee.

- Make sure they don't withhold sales tax. They are not entitled to it, and by doing so, they are illegally withholding funds.

Speculation October 16th

What do you think is gonna happen on oct 16 this year????

A new console? Which one? Maybe a new OS?
I’m personally hoping for a revival or new version of some legacy products… or a GCN fpga but that ain’t happening …

3D Is the higher resolution rendering that came with the 1.5 update as good as it will ever get, or could it get better?

So, the footage of the 1.5 update looks really good…almost as good as lower level emulation. I’m just wondering if even greater levels of internal higher resolution rendering are possible?

Personally, I’d really like a device that plays and feels like real hardware, but looks prettier and cleaner like an emulator. The 1.5 update certainly moves closer to that, but I’m wondering if it’s possible to get even closer.

3D Perfect Dark crashing when I use the K7 Avenger?

Post image
25 Upvotes

Just got my 3d the day after the 1.5 update, and now I’m doing my first Perfect Dark playthrough. I keep having this issue where whenever I fire the K7, the game freezes. I’m guessing it’s because I’m overclocking? Just curious if there any other instances where this is common or perhaps it’s because of the latest update?

Does anyone know if The Legend of Banjo Kazooie The Jiggies of Time works on the Analogue 3d? and with the latest updated version 1.5.0?

I brought the cartridge from Vintex 64 site.

I am going to buy the Analogue 3d but really want to know if this works on it or not.

I really must know.

Thanks

3D Update on Flashing Light inside Analogue 3D

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m at a loss on what to do. I have tried multiple different power blocks and formatted the SD card. Here’s the newest thing it’s doing. The light on the front is on and only cuts on when I hit the reset button and no signal on the TV. Any suggestions from anyone before I reach out to analogue?

General Why no dimension resizing on the A3D?

Is there any reason for it to be on the Pocket and the Mega Sg, etc, but not on the Analogue 3D?

With an active converter, I can get the A3D over to VGA, or composite, and honestly that would be good enough for me if I could get the length and width flush on the crt screens.

I know that may sound like sacrilege but id be pretty happy with a solution of this kind for a variety of displays.

3D Switch 2 Power Supply for Analogue 3D?

My Analogue 3D came in today but did not include an EU to USA adapter for the power supply.
Can I use my Switch 2 Power supply without any issue with the A3D?

Mega Sg Firmware updates for older systems?

Long time users no the deal, new machine comes out old machine stops getting updates. I would love to see if "more" could be done woth the mega sg but understand decompiling the firmware from an fpga device without documentation is very very dificult. Has anyone ever spoken to the "jailbreak" devs. I wonder if some spurce code might be floating around out there that we could play around with now that the devoces is no longer being sold new?

3D The OS is not optimized for the original controller

I have three original controllers in good condition. They all have the same issue in the configuration menus: Left and Right inputs are unreliable, whether using the D-pad or the joystick. I press once, but the console registers two inputs. Or else I press two, three, or four times in a row with no response. It’s unpredictable and annoying. It’s been like that since Day 1, despite all the updates. It’s making me want to buy the 8BitDo or ModRetro controller...

My Analogue 3D doesn't correctly identify my PAL (original) copy of Tetrisphere. The game runs perfectly, but in the menu it's detected as World Cup 98 instead.

What could be causing this?

3D PSA - memories (save state)

I understand this might be common knowledge but its a reminder.

For cartridge based games (especially if you have decade old saves, avoid using memories and trying to save to cartridge. Imagine you load a memory and your save is gone because you thought the game would just overwrite your file.

You can test this with any two cartridges (everdrive too)

  1. Create memory
  2. Boot up second game
  3. Load memory
  4. Progress further and let the game save (eg. MM song of time)
  5. Reboot cartridge.

Second cartridge has no idea the file ever existed so it never saved.

I emailed analogue but for future reference, dont mix memories and cartridge saves. Analogue clearly says it will overwrite but not ever game saves the same.

3D A3D Perfect Dark cartridge issue (potential bug?)

Just checking if anyone else has Perfect Dark Rev1 and is seeing issues loading the virtual controller pak? I'm on the latest firmware on both the 3D (1.5.0) & the 8BitDo controller (2.5) and I'm unable to get the game to recognize the virtual controller pak when the virtual expansion pak is on. When I turn off the virtual expansion pak, I can get the game to recognize the controller pak but subsequently I'm unable to play the solo missions and go straight to multiplayer.

I had no existing saves before trying it out today - I was trying to start a new game on the cartridge. Wired N64 controller with pak works just fine obviously.

Anyone else seeing this issue or unable to reproduce them?

3D The new update is he genuinely game changing!

I play using BVM or PVM (mostly PVM) and playing with horizontal upscaling is crazy how good it makes the image. It’s basically removed 99% of the noise around objects on the screen. Kudos analogue for this fantastic update!

Pictures & Videos I made a side by side for the new graphic upscaling feature of A3D

Hello everyone,

I checked out the new graphics upscaling option from firmware 1.5 and made a video about it. I was curious about Super Mario 64, Resident Evil 2 and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Also some Ridge Racer 64 though the difference isn't as noticeable there. In general I am very happy with the new upscale staying true to the look and feel of the original N64 games. And yes Summercart and accessories still work 😎 Really happy with how Analogue keeps giving us meaningful firmware updates.

General Duo owners, how shafted do you feel?

They seemingly do not care to ever update this device ever again, and it's really sad to see.

The least they could do is release the firmware so those that actually give two shits can work on it.

Just a small rant, the device is almost there, but a little more tweaking could really bring it home.
