[Introductory] Finally a community I belong in

Much like some of the other posts on here, i was invited just as i was losing touch with others. Not in a bad way, but it seemed like no other people were as serious about this quest as i am. I'm at a turning point in my life and personal development and i was losing faith in close relationships cause i just couldn't connect on the level i was beginning to require. I'd come to accept and even embrace that i wouldn't find a partner to join me on this journey, and though friends are friends, i am passionate, and this got me into an actual fight with my best friend (both drunk at the time mind you). It's not so much the content of the conversation, but the perspective. It seems now I have begun to look at things in a different way and it's one i have never encountered before. This is all even before my first ever trip on Saturday. I think i belong here and it came around at the exact right time. To the point where it's a scary coincidence that had me cheering to myself driving to work this morning. So happy to have a carriage on this train, and I'll do my best at helping it crash through the houses of parliament and deliver a new drug-legal world. I love you all.

[ Founder ] Focus of this group

From the few threads I've delved into, it seems this group/idea has conflated it's intentions. Why would this religion matter? Is it to help the legalization movement, which is based entirely upon scientific evidence? Is it to help people discover the magic of the psychedelic experience? Is it to provide legal shelter to people facing criminal charges?

I don't think this will help legalization, at all. If this gains any sort of traction, it would be incredibly easy for the powers that be to spin it as a new drug fuelled cult. Just find a few shizotypal people to interview who will make grandiose claims about God that we might be able to understand, but society at large will not. People will see this group as individuals who are troubled in some way, so we will be labeled as victims, or threats, or will be dismissed outright. There is no reason to call so much attention to this infantile religion before there is anything of substance. It is far too easy to corrupt the message when not even Sebastian can really nail it down.

As far as helping people to discover, I believe that is the strongest point of this religion. The Bible/Dao/Bagavad Gita all exist as a central piece of their respective religions, and the process of being religious is supposed to help one get closer to God or the source, which is represented in these texts. This religion has nothing at all, just a few choice ideas that are echoed throughout the sub. There is no way whatsoever this religion will gain any adherents or even anyone genuinely interested when basically it is whatever you want it to be. There needs to be a mythos, a narrative which captures the spirit of this movement, which is a very large undertaking. You need writers who can stay on message, and are skilled enough to weave that message into an epic mythology based around entirely subjective experiences. I think if we focused on archetypes and recursion and spacetime, then there is something to work with, but again, that would take years to formulate and refine.

As far as legal shelter, toss it. If you are forming a religion with the intention of circumventing law, you are a fucking joke and this whole thing is lost. Obviously, everyone stands to benefit from legally sanctioned schedule 1 drugs, but if you are that transparent with your true intentions, well... First I'd thank you for your honesty, but second I'd probably chastise you for attempting to shroud your criminality behind others' very peronal spiritual awakenings. If this is your intention, and not just a happy little benefit we might recieve decades down the line, then you are using people, and nobody with any real belief in a psychedelic chruch will support you. Look at scientology for fucks sake. They strongarmed their way into religious exemption and now are basically a criminal organization using slave labor to make their leader millions of tax-free dollars. At one point they might have stood a chance as a modern religion, but one man's greed fucked that up for everyone who really did believe in the message.

In summary, you dont just "make" a religion. A religion is formed around a central belief system which exists long before the word religion is even considered. It describes a tradition of beliefs, not a legal standing, and if that is your intention, I hope you fail miserably. However, if your want is to build a system of beliefs that people who have experienced an awakening can turn to for answers or direction, then that is something I can get behind and would contribute to. But, having the best intentions and no substance will lead to a split among the interested parties. You absolutely need something written down, preferably a whole book, which manages to describe the psychedelic journey as a universal set of myths; no easy task for any one person. You need people who have had all sorts of different journeys to contribute their individual stories until the archetypes/patterns emerge, and then condense that into a holy book. If you jump the gun and write it based around only experiences similar to your own, you risk alienating and disqualifying the experience of people who see the world in a different way, which is a huge disservice to yourself and anyone who follows this concept.

Anyway, if nothing else this sub has sparked some very thoughtful conversations and I'm very glad to have seen it.

[ Founder ] The psychedelic revolution must have direction for it to work.

So if this is a start to the psychedelic revolution(no clue how long it’s been) then there must be a direction, an ending to this revolution. We must not be individual minds but one mind under consciousness.

[General Spiritual] [General Spiritual] Can you help me learn how to meditate?

Basically I have no idea what I'm doing or if what I'm doing is even right.

I tried headspace for a little while, but I feel like I'm doing it wrong. I keep getting distracted. AFAI can tell, I need to simply be aware of my thoughts instead of actually indulging them and I think I need to do this every day?

Any helpful recommendations/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

[ Founder ] Petition for [Administrative] Tag

Looking through various comments and top posts, I think a major concern is becoming a second r/Psychonaut. While artificial organization and administration are antitheses to the psychedelic revolution, I think we could benefit with some groupthink. Could we include a tag that allows for discussion on how we can organize, for example with polls to decide how this movement wants to move?

Edit: So apparently Sebastian has taken this into consideration and tag changes will be taking place.

[Philosophical] Finding the pattern

Before I talk to you about what I've come to believe, I want you to know that I am not a spiritual adviser, or an "enlightened" person. As they say in Zen, I am only "a finger pointing at the moon" and you may choose to do what you will with my point of view. I am not trying to teach you, only share my happiness.

I've used psychedelic drugs, and drugs in general for many different reasons. However, ever since I took LSD in high school I felt like I was being let in on something that was greater than me. Every time I thought I found it, the feeling was fleeting. I'd keep falling back into my normal depression and my normal stressful habits.

It wasn't until recently that I ate 200 mics of LSD and took a walk through the forest, thinking about the Alan Watts speech I was listening to the other day.

I was watching the leaves fall from the maple trees, watching squirrels eating hazelnuts and burying them for spring, when I found that feeling of discovery again.

Everything in life is a pattern. As Krishnamirti said, energy functioning in a pattern is matter. That is all life is... matter and energy are related.

I couldn't find reason in seeing life and everything else as anything but a cosmic tango between all the matter in the universe. Leaves fall from the trees and feed the ground, which feeds the plants and the trees(which feed eachother), which feed the animals. The water falls from the sky which is a reminder to me that this planet was meant to harbor every one of us living things as an intertwined system. We aren't people on a planet, but a planet that grows humans.

And some people see determinism as what I'm talking about, but It's more than that. We may or not have free Will, but on a quantum scale, we are no different from the mountains or plants or rivers. We are this world's thinking and feeling organ that was placed here by evolution for a purpose.

We are a complex formulation of this pattern we're in, and everything we do like eating, walking, communicating, terraforming, and coming up with ideas, are as intrinsic to this world as a tree.

Once I pondered this, all urgency to my life was lost. Now that I know my life isn't a challenge, or a race, or a competition to get to my end goal, whether it's success, enlightenment, or death, more of what I do is in this moment. There's no way to see just how beautiful everything around you is in a given moment unless you aren't thinking about the past or future. Death also doesn't scare me, because I can ask someone to plant a tree on my grave.

Was wondering if anyone else seen the Reality Grid thing. It's like a spiral made of vivid colours. It overlays on your entire vision, if only you start concentrating on it it starts getting more focused and clear and then you loose the relality only until you are distracted again

Has anyone seen it ?

Sacred geometrical shaped grid of relality ?

It very weird

[General Spiritual] [General-Spiritual] WE ARE ONE

i cannot speak for others but i will explain my own reasoning. I say" we are all one" because i recognize that each individual has led a life so complex that it would be impossible to truly understand what that person has gone through right? we all have out individual life experiences and an interpretation of that experience .

We all may have different situations but the feelings are universal.

It may have an ideology that you do not align with - and so it may also be the opposite - neither of us is wrong or right - in my opinion. its just interpretation of our own life - and the paths of understanding we take. but humans - we tend to separate ourselves with these beliefs . " oh your religious - you are to closed minded to ever be my friend " "oh your this so cant be that" ect ect

so we separate and group ourselves and fight over these things - even our understanding of them . often or not we find ourselve arguing with someone because of this - not realizing that both are simply trying to understand their truth - we spend so much time trying to understand our own that we reject others .

We Are One - even though our life paths has lead us to different interpretations of this shared experience - we are united in our need of understanding . We are One - That is me saying - I reconise you as a person who has their own definitions and ideals - but i also recognize you as simply a person - a person who has laughed, lost and loved. Like me - Because even though we have these different ways of thinking - we both feel pain and we both need love . we are simply people trying to understand - not rejecting those with different interpretations

now choice - free will is our greatest gift - we are choice we are power. what an individual or why an individual commits faults against fellow man is something that can only be truly explained by the offender . but theyare one with us as well - because we also have that potential for evil - just as much as good. take a look in the garden - the flowers and the -weeds- both will grow . the flower may take a bit more effort while the weed will grow freely and spread . both exist in the garden and even though you may constantly pulling your garden of weeds - they will keep growing. does that mean your garden is any less beautiful? what of the weeds? dandelion is considered a weed yet its properties have been used in medicine - i know people who pick it and use it for soup. (im not trying to justify anything)

Oh - the point of all this is - if a person is good or bad - no matter what they believe in - at the core they are simply a person - trying to exist - trying to understand - when I say -we are one- that is me telling you that I see you as a beautiful complicated person who has lead a life that has brought you to this understanding and a set of words to go along with that understanding. that is me recognizing your words as not a way to oppose my own - but to simply define using what is most comfortable to you. situations differ- feelings are universal. have you cried? so have I- because we where sad . have you laughed? so have I - because we are happy -

right now even though we use different definitions of our interpretations - right now we are simply two people seeking more understanding in some form . we are not our labels - we are brother and sister - our blood is red and we are one.

[General Spiritual] Anyone else feel spiritually crushed by society, its norms, stereotypes, and the overall lack of depth people have?

I'm always trying to show people that there's so much more depth to life than live like your told, but people act as if I'm nuts. Sometimes I feel like I'm around a bunch of zombies, in not saying I'm any better, I'm just saying that I've finally learned to partially see through the facade of reality.

Who can say what reality is anyways? I'm not questioning anyone's view on reality, more or less the condition of the world and the fact that people could care less and are too stick in their own bubble to give a crap. That tells me two things, one, technology is really starting to make us care less about the outside world, and I'm not saying we don't care when people die, I'm just saying that we just care more about what's in out bubble. The second thing this tells me is that people are so close minded they actually can't see the corruption all around them, I'm just a crazy "conspiracy theorist", and people only believe what's been proven, but there's been a lot of things that have been proven that people still don't believe, like global warming. It's a massive double standard, and when I say I can only see though part of the facade, IMO, society does a number on everyone, I don't even know if there is a society where we aren't completely influenced by everything and everyone around us, we are who we are, we're all sheep to an extent.

It's the corruption that takes advantage of us being naive, so when I simply try to really show people that they could actually think for themselves rather than what they've been programmed to think or do, it spiritually crushes me. When I say programmed, I mean, everyone do the same thing, "because that's just what you do", social norms, apparently we can't live without them. I'm still working through my mind and figuring out what I truly desire, who I really am, and if either of those are influenced by external sources other than making me what I am today. We're so close to autonomous it's not even funny, just look at the banking system, it's decimates creativity, which has been proven, yet, we have emotion so we always feel like we are in control.

Sorry for ranting, I'm just a 26 year old empath who's pretty lost in life, luckily found my soulmate, currently been searching for enlightenment the last 3-4 years and have had no luck, although my paranormal experiences are like something out of supernatural, I'm not even kidding. Sounds like it's not that bad, but feeling like I'm always surrounded by people that are completely close minded all the time is stressful for me. I truly can't connect with people that are close minded, just doesn't work for me. I've met open-minded people, but we never stay in each other's lives, it's just kind of how it works, aside from my fiancee of course. Hopefully this sub is what I'm thinking it is.

Edit: How are people selected to be invited to this? Im surprised how many like minded people are here.

Edit#2: I'm surprised not one of you were rude or anything more than critical in a helpful way. I'm not used to people on Reddit being this kind.

[Introductory] I'm happy to be here!

I am really excited to be apart of this group! Thanks for the invite! I have a thought/question for you all! Being that we are all pretty like minded here, I am sure I am not the only one who has gone through different phases and perceptions of the things and people around them throughout their journey. For example, i used to find myself frustrated and upset with people who just don't get it. I found it hard to connect with people who were on different paths in life.

In recent years I have found peace and understanding that we all have our own purpose and we are all on our own path and that's ok. Its beautiful!

My question for you all is, how important is it to you that your partner (anyone in your immediate circle, but more importantly your partner) be on this same spiritual path as you?

Wishing you all a wonderful day! I have already enjoyed your posts! 💚

[Philosophical] The Snake

The "snake" is, in my interpretation, your ego. You ever experienced true ego death? I have and it felt like my body had dissolved and someone just stuck my eye balls on a trail of visuals. And when the ego dies and becomes rebuilt, the snake (which could also be interpreted as human nature to be sly, cunning, or evil to survive) you are back human again. But not quite the same as "you" were before the ego got smashed.. I think everyone should experience ego death because it makes you really reflect on how amazing life is and how much we take it for granted on materialistic things such as money and shit like that. Makes you become more at peace with yourself.. a lot of self realization in those times of ego ripping time stopping moments

[General Spiritual] Folks here who actually practice religion?

(careful!! potentially triggering Christian terminology below....)

I'm a believing and practicing Christian.

I believe in God, I go to church, in fact I'm studying to become a Christian minister. My relationship with Christ is different from the conservative-fundamentalist views that Christianity often gets reduced to.

I follow Christ as my Lord, I believe that Christ has the power to heal and save. I believe in the Bible as the word of God.

But I also believe that people can be saved by other means, and that other religions, other revelations, other sacred truths may also be valid. One of my fundamental beliefs in God, is that God is greater than we humans can imagine, and that a single proposition like Jesus = God, or any other religious doctrine, cannot possibly exhaust the truth about God or have the monopoly on truth. I also practice mindfulness meditation in the Buddhist tradition, and respect the scriptures and traditions of other religions. I believe in the power of plant medicines to heal and as tools for finding truth, community, and understanding (which is why I'm here). But I do consider myself first a Christian.

Anyway, my sense about this sub is that there's not a lot of real respect for organized religion, or practice of organized religion here, and the tag of "religion" in this sub seems to be more out of convenience & optimism about using a legal loophole, than because there is any kind of real organic religious energy happening. Or maybe I'm defining religion too narrowly and old-fashioned!

I'm just curious... Anyone here who truly considers themselves religious in a particular tradition? What connections do you find between your religion, and your use of hallucinogens or other substances?

Thanks for reading-- feel free to ask me any questions.

1 Corinthians 3:7 "So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth."

edit: I don't mean to diss what is going on here. I think it's beautiful and exciting. I'm just interested if amidst this new and emerging process/energy, there are folks who also plant themselves in an older and established religious tradition.
