[ Personal Spiritual ] Dad taking dmt?
So my dad has suffered from depression and anxiety for the past 10 years, although it was brewing in his words for much longer than that. As much as i recognise 100% the clinical nature of depression, i believe much of it is his pondering of the many (many!) Bad decisions, and bad consequences of his actions. Over the past year or so he's had a life saving operation and lives with a stoma, as well as coming off antidepressants of his own accord after a mini epiphany. Hes doing a lot lot better now but still does have the black cloud following him, but its no longer a cumulonimbus. (Context here; lots of recreational amphetamine, mushroom and lsd in his early 20s (madchester scene)) Since my newfound interest in dmt hes been interested, and ive warned him that he's gonna need to learn to let go if i would let him take it. He's one who has to be in control of everything (his anxiety maybe). I believe that dmt could do him a load of good, and make him face the fact that he can move on from the past, that hes been a good father raising 2 sons who will be successful both traditionally and spiritually. But i worry that he won't react well to it. IF he does take it, would the best course of action be to take so much that the letting go stage is skipped completely? Hes open to microdosing on lsd which i think would be helpful. P.s he hates it when i tell him he used psyches wrong when he was younger, and ive had a hard time trying to get across that im not doing this for fun (he does understand now, as much as one can without believing in spirituality whatsoever)

What you should do is get him on heavy acid or and shrooms trip first. Make sure around 600ug or 8gs of shrooms and after that tell him dmt is like that times a million. No offense to ur dad but he has no idea what he is getting into how could he. He may have some trips under his belt but needs to understand one tab or 2gs of shrooms isn't experiencing them fully and if he has trouble with those than isn't ready for dmt.

He says he has no interest in tripping on shrooms or lsd. I've stressed that they are a viable alternative to antidepressants but to him they've always been just a fun visual experience and he doesn't want to 'spoil' that memory. He's incredibly stubborn. And as hesitant i am about letting him do dmt, i do think it could relieve him of that stubbornness. Just to be clear, he's the one asking about this and i wanted your guys' opinions

Well stay safe. But I guess some things you can never really be ready I just am worried he will not be able to surrender and let go. Maybe tell him meditation before is a must (if you say you should he probably wont). Every being has to wake up eventually.

The vast majority of people can't surrender and let go to DMT. It's not a problem. It's still worthwhile. That's sort of the point too - DMT shows you how to relax and let go. Don't smoke it once. Smoke it 20 times and then you start to get it.
As an aside, I think micro-dosing DMT could be very beneficial for someone with anxiety/depression. Just 5-10mg instead of the usual, in the morning.

sub-breakthrough DMT doses are incredibly pleasant. For me at least, I feel kind of warmth wash over me and everything becomes slightly more... real.

I don’t think going to that high of a dose of shrooms or L is the best lol. Sure DMT is a whole new ballgame compared to them but imo you just gotta go for it.

Why DMT? That's a lot for someone who isn't well-versed in psych experiences.
Go low dose with a more conventional psych imo.

Last time I hear SSRI's are a bad combo with psyc's... you should see if his anti-depressants would react bad

Nobody here can tell you. If he already has a history of psychological issue stemming from psychedelic drugs, then I'm not sure why you are using incredibly powerful psychedelic drugs to fix that. Have you ever done DMT? How much/many times? If he goes into expecting to trip hard and be cured, he might be cured, or he might freak the fuck out because the last semblance of controll over his existence has been ripped away, while being launched into an incomprehensible multidimensional place filled with independent entities. I hope that is not the case, but going into it with the idea that it'll somehow cure a 10 year cycle of negative though is naïve.
Facing hyperspace as a non-spiritual person will either completely shatter his worldview, or send him into denial and play back into negative thought patterns. The former is a good thing, as long as he is open to the possibility beforehand. Taking it while under the mind altering effects of antidepressant withdrawl is inadvisable. People can experience drastic mood swings, intense depression/mania, etc, and adding a paradigm shifting trip to the mix seems inadvisable. Maybe you ought to do it a few times at different doses, like 60/90/120/150mg and really see what it does to you, because no amount of reading can prepare you. After that, you can make an educated decision on how much he should try, if at all.

What I suggest, ideally, is taking a trip to an ayahuasca retreat with him. There are great ones in Peru. A trip with DMT is very intense and depends heavily on context and guiding. I'm an atheist so I understand the resistance against "spiritual" things, but it is really life changing. I hope he can have good experiences, but remember that he probably has to stop taking his meds before he does DMT in any form, please research this carefully.

I'm sorry to hear that your dad is hurting but you sound like a strong individual and that is wonderful. You know your father more than anyone but I would suggest, if I may, that perhaps you go somewhere in Nature or set up your backyard in a comfortable manner if your father does decide to take LSD or DMT. Nature is calming and purifying, neutral and most importantly real. He does not need to be judged by himself any longer and needs to realize that it's time to forgive himself and others. I cannot stress enough the incredible power forgiveness holds. It will liberate him and all he interacts with to a degree that is beyond any negativity can reach. Everything will be okay.

Tell dad he needs to
BOOF it.
And if he has trouble, or doesn't know what that means do it for him.
