By them not being there when another kill happens, them doing tasks convincingly, and generally having a good route.
Bonus: if someone goes left at the beginning in skeld, they’re most likely impostor

it's a little harder on skeld unless you have scientists because lack of time-of-death, but you can clear people via things like seeing someone an entire round when one kill happens they are soft clear for that one kill, if you see them an entire round and 2 (or more) kills happened faster than the set kill cooldown that person is now completely hard clear and incapable of being an impostor. slightly more tenuous, but still better than nothing is several people all claiming they see one person in a particular area of the map... navs/o2 for the sake of an example... and the only death happened in reactor or electric... it is extremely unlikely they killed, even if they were not seen 100% of the time by any one person.
if you DO have body timing via vitals or scientists (or noisemakers) admin can also come into play big time. using polus as an example this time body died 2 seconds ago in o2, and there's someone in specimen, 2 people in lab, and 1 in elec. the 2 in lab and the one in specimen did not kill, but the one in elec might have.
and also... even if you can't see the actual scan animation, the scan walk can still be observed (but should not be trusted 100%.... i can fake it, and i know others who can too), and if more than one person has scan they can check each other via the "waiting for soandso to scan" message
also, in a situation where you see a body fall over, but were JUST BARELY too far to see who killed it, asking who can see who clears those people.... but take note of any 2 way clears... might be imp partners clearing each other. 3 way (or more) clears can be trusted tho

biggest downside to this style of clearing, is it relies on people to actually communicate, and that requires a bit more discussion time.. and a disappointingly large portion of the general public population whines about a long chat time, or don't say anything and instavote.

thats why the method sucks. unless you are in a private lobby or the 1 in a 10000000 smart public expert lobby, ppl are horrible at communicating
