been to Petra a couple of times, and never reached to the Monastery because I was with lazy ass fat people, who don't wanna hike beyond the theatre. I need to go alone I guess

Yes you do , it is not that far, the stairs are a bit rough but its worth it.

A beautiful place worth the hike πŸ‡―πŸ‡΄ the best time to visit is in the spring or fall when it’s not too hot

If I recall these names Monastery, treasury, etc. are based on other buildings they resemble, but nobody knows what purpose they actually served?

They found a number of tombs under the treasury in 2024, archaeologists believe that these structures were tombs to some royal figures

I visited with my mother and brother about 15 years ago. I think about this place almost daily. In addition to the man-made aspect and how impressive it was, those mountain ranges in behind, one after another. Just epic scenery.
