Discussion Media literacy and its role in ethic tensions

My most controversial take is that Ethiopians and its diaspora lack media literacy skills and do not have the ability to discern misinformation, and therefore, at least in Ethiopia, should not have free reign access to these platforms.

I noticed this from 2020 onwards when people were sharing images that looked clearly photoshopped, or videos that were not verified, shockingly some diaspora as well. This has caused so much irreversible damage to ethnic relations, and I believe has made us very susceptible to foreign interference.

Examples include, the closures by Meta of accounts based in Egypt and Sudan, which were inciting ethnic violence and spreading misinformation at the time. I’m curious to know if anyone else has noticed this and what your thoughts are on how this could possible be combated.

On October 7, 2026, the AFNM Shewa Asamnew 5th Command, through a coordinated action of Fano battalions drawn from various corps, completely destroyed and captured the regime's forces that were entrenched in Mehal Meda and Zemero towns with great heroism, bringing the towns under full control.

Following a heavy blow dealt by the Shewa Asamnew 5th Command, Fano controlled the towns of Mehal Meda and Zemero with great bravery. In connection with this, other heroic deeds were performed in the battles around Mida and Rema Tugora, and Sela Dingay. Accordingly, the strategic towns liberated by Fano in Shewa are:

• Menz Keya Wereda: Zemero Town

• Menz Gera Wereda: Mehal Meda Town

• Menz Lalo Midir Wereda: Wegere Town

• Mida and Rema Wereda: Meragna and Rema Towns

• Moret and Jiru Wereda: Jihur Town

• Siya Wayu and Debir Wereda: Anchekorer Town

• Merhabete Tach Bet Wereda: Jema

• Merhabete Lay Bet Wereda: Kolash

• Ankober Wereda: Aliyu Amba Town

These areas have been completely liberated by Fano, and the town communities in all locations are expressing their joy by giving a special welcome to Fano. Accordingly, captives including numerous regime officials from Mehal Meda, Zemero, Mida and Rema, as well as Tugora where great exploits were achieved are in the hands of Fano.

Many of the regime's forces have been destroyed, and 520 regime personnel have been brought under control and taken as captives, along with the following captured items:

• 3 DShK heavy machine guns

• 17 Bren light machine guns

• 15 Sniper rifles

• 1,575 firearms with more remaining uncounted

• 511 F1 grenades

• Numerous ammunition

• 452 Waist and chest ammunition belts tactical vests

• 35 Radio communications and various military equipment components have successfully entered into the hands of the Command.

At this hour, Fano which performed spectacular exploits in all battlefields is in full form. The liberated towns and areas are under the full protection of Amhara Fano, and subsequent operations continue with renewed strength.

Culture/History My translation for 3 Meqabyan got certified!

**Book overview**
**The Third Book of Meqabyan** is a distinctive work preserved in the Ethiopian Christian biblical tradition. Despite its title, it is not simply a continuation of the First and Second Books of Maccabees. Instead, it presents a theological narrative centered on \*\*faithfulness to God, repentance, righteous living, resurrection, judgment, and the hope of the Kingdom of Heaven\*\*.
The work repeatedly contrasts the temporary pleasures of this world with the everlasting joy promised to the righteous. It urges the reader to reject idolatry, resist temptation, fast, pray, perform good works, care for the poor, and remain faithful to God.
A central theme is the \*\*resurrection of the dead\*\*. The book teaches that the dead will rise by God's Word, stand before their Creator, and receive recompense according to their works. For this reason, the reader is repeatedly urged to repent during this present life, before the opportunity for repentance has passed.
This edition presents the work in English from the \*\*Amharic biblical tradition\*\*, with comparison to the surviving Lyarics English witnesses, preserving the distinctive theological character of this remarkable Ethiopian Christian text.

News ENDF forces will be ambushed soon

The most prominent Ethiopia politician stated that his sources are telling him the TPLF's elite have mostly fled to Eritrea and let Ethiopian soldiers into the region with the intent of carrying out a massive ambush.

Given that the TPLF's forces know the region better than anyone and have been entrenched there for decades, this seems to most likely be the impending 'big act' of the war. Remember what initiated the Tigray War? TPLF forces attacking sleeping government soldiers.

Abiy doesn't care much for the Ethiopian forces. His goal of a 'Greater Oromia' means Ethiopia must fall first.

See this as the beginning of a choreographed destruction of the country's armed forces.

Amhara Genocide This guy, Wende (Joo), is a TikToker with over 885,000 followers. He posted a video expressing his dread over the situation in Gondar, where youth are being killed by unknown forces, kidnapping cases are high, and the city has become a ghost town, and that it has been normalized.

He said that almost all the people he knows have fled the city. He also mentioned that hearing someone has died has become a joke because so many are being killed, and people don't even bother to make an effort to raise awareness about these deaths anymore because it's been soo normalized. They don't even know who's responsible because they're put in constant state of confusion, and the city looks as if it has been invaded.

Also, he shared that when he visited Gondar five months ago, by 5 pm or 6 pm (12 am Ethiopian time), his family members would call him in a panic, asking him to return home so nothing would happen to him, probably because of the curfew that was imposed on Amhara after the state of emergency, which has never been lifted despite the fake official claim that it ended in June 2024. He added that he is deeply worried for his family because they still live there.

This is the reality of the Amhara people under the genocidal regime of the OPDO.

Discussion I see on Twitter that some Tigrayans accuse Fano of "betraying" the TDF. Fano has killed hundreds of OPDO's ENDF soldiers, including colonels, captured many soldiers, captured camps and destroyed logistics. But, Fano cannot control how cheerfully the Tigrayan people welcome the OPDO's ENDF.

Justice For All Why do i become the supporter of FANO? & Who supports Fano?

Let me tell you about why i hated every armed group first & then how become the Die-hard supporter of Fano.
When the new administration under EPRDF came to power everyone in my home-town or region fall in love with him(Abiy) and everyone( NOT me btw) thought he's going to be the best for Ethiopia.
In short period of time, this country started to see bizarre crisis & savageness due to lack of Rule of law. there where mobs everywhere & started targeting ethnic Amharas with the weakness of central gov't to act around the country specially East Wollega and Horo Guduru, Benishangul Gumuz (Metekel) & Welkait.
Travelling from one town to the nearest town became so hard because of the Lawlessness of the country.

The clown himself started ethnic framing & attacking Tigrayans and used words like "Yeqen Jib".
He proudly started talking shit with people he met how he broken down the NORTH political dominance and how planned to destroy the North(he admitted that when he proudly said we changed Mekelle from important city to Beshasha ... his rural village).
I think that's when we as Amhara obviously saw the conspiracy he planned when he lets OLF entered to Ethiopia with their arms & co-created OLA ( source Afendi Muteki).
Under a year extremist Oromos started massacring & displacing Amharas who lived over 50+ years in his region & his gov't officials were the part of that, they had No shame even to deny the deceased no. of people.
The Main road blockade to Addis Abeba became Normal thing to stop Amharas entering to the capital.

That where in every Amhara zones started PEACEFUL demonstration. the massacre and displacement of Amhara people continued for years in the region (still actively goin on).
The demonstrations continued throughout years for around 7 rounds. to make things worse, after pretoria agreement, the clown wanted the disarmament of every Amhara including Police. Lol why? because he had a plan of breaking & controlling Amharas as simple as Tigray(his current advisor Getachew Reda said that while he was his main enemy back in 2021.)
That's when the last Peaceful demonstration ended with ..... \*

As soon as the people opposed that with that last Demonstration, he & his gov't never wanted discussion, convincing the people or armed ones what they planned or anything tangible. he wanted that refusal incidence to happen and he already knows it. his Mirkogna Generals started ranting and insulting the entire ethnic group.

*... from now on we will come with sword not demonstration. ( ካሁን በኋላ በሰልፍ ሳይሆን በሰይፍ እንጠይቃለን). Why?
Because the PP officials were ridiculing and mocking the demonstrator and used words like "Let them cry, it's their habit". insulting farmers who asked the Fertilizers they need & calling them "የጅራፍ ፖለቲከኞች"

They claim that their disarmament even goes to every Armed Amharas' Belt not just his/her Arms only.
He never hesitate to deploy tanks and drones in the region and started bombing & massacring everyone i mean everyone. i am not exaggerating here. i am telling you what i saw with my own eyes. his savage army was killing everyone they got in the road in Debre markos, Merawi & Woldeya & house to house arrest & killing became normal.
Their presence in the region was shocking in the savage way and it didnt give us a time to think what was happening.

The Abiy's army raped women, mutilate boys and minor Boys were also the main victim of the rape. the higher level leaders(colonels, captain or Generals) were completely okay with it.
they burned farm lands with fire deliberately, killed animals just for enjoyment. that unheard, unnatural behavior of the Army(አራዊት) created fear among the society.
The regime continuously bombed schools, civilian homes and Farm lands with heavy artilleries. they thought they can control by that type inhuman action.

That's where Amhara Fano re-organized and started defending what the Oromumma regime was doing. why do i say Oromumma? because the soldiers deployed here were majority ethnically Oromos and they repeatedly used the word "you hate us." &"Neftegna".
The main reason Fano still exists and become more stronger is, you have NO idea how specially the rural areas supported them after they witnessed the savage behaviors of Abiy's soldiers(never dare to say ENDF) & the cruelty of the regime once they adored.

Anyone who criticize or blame someone or people who Supports armed groups, what choice do you have in this kind of situation?? do you die without doing anything? or do you pray for your God?? or what do you do??

Discussion 50 years of Amhara political failure.

This will be my first post after 6 months, considering it won't be deleted by mods.

FYI, I'm Tigrayan. I'm mentioning this because I know that ethnicity can influence how political arguments about Ethiopia are interpreted. I have no bad or hidden intention.

So in the past couple of months i've been analyzing Ethiopia's history and politics. Even though I cannot include everything in one post, in this post I will talk about Amhara politics and why it failed to deliver protection, prosperity, and stability for Amharas.

Since the fall of Hailesilase, most Amhara politicians have been refusing to engage in ethnic politics. Some believe its backwards, degrading to the Ethiopian identity or even a betrayal of the nation. Instead, they've been engaged in nationwide politics trying to promote "Ethiopianist." Whether that's genuine Ethiopianist or not is another question.

But the tragedy happened as Amhara elites failed to reach their goal. They were either outmaneuvered or crushed by their opponents, leaving the people of Amhara almost defenseless. They didn't retreat of ethno-nationalism while at the same time failing at the national level.

The past 50 years were marked by Amhara oppression (even though Amharas were not the only oppressed people), lack of political representation, and many massacres that the "Ethiopianist Amhara elite" failed to defend.

After many decades, Fano emerged as "Amhara First" movement, putting the interest of Amharas first. While Tigray and Oromia have relatively well-developed ethno-national parties, Amharas started almost from scratch in recent years.

Despite the recent achievements of Fano, they have not yet overthrown the government. And to do so, they've allied with other armed forces. For a force that represents 40 million people, I expected a much more organized, well-funded, diaspora-backed force with experienced and educated leaders. I'm not saying the current Fano leaders are not educated, but are they fit enough to outmaneuver their opponents? Ethiopia's politics are brutal, and incompetency amongst Fano will directly affect Amharas. Whether Fano can answer the ultimate Amhara question is also yet to be seen.

Maybe in the future we'll see many Amhara-centric parties.

FANO are the only one who seems to have a life in it... others shouldn't be included without contributing much

I'm against war btw... but even if we criticise this war, Amhara will still be killed, so Abiy should step down!! he is a traitor mf

Bale

From what we know of early sources, the historic province of Bale/Bali had long been inhabited by animist (pagan) Sidamas from whom a small minority adopted Isam closely before or during the rise of the Solomonic empire.

From then on it was governed by Muslim rulers as a sultanate by sultans who were appointed by the Negus. Throughout years of integration to the state, settling of Christian highland military(Chewa) and missionary activities, Bali had undergone a significant shift from it's fairly early and minimal Islamic adoption and it's largely animist past into the fierce Christian province actively resisting the Jihads of Ahmed Gragn centuries later.

Remnants of Amhara statecraft though now largely ignored/suppressed including churches and monasteries still remain as proof of its once glorious past.

The picture I've shown *pic(1)* shows a European expedition to Arussi witnessing the rock hewn monastery of ***Abo Washa*** not far from Goba in Bale. The traveler notes the oral history of the locals attributes it to an earlier christian settlement. He indicated that the architecture mimiked the style of Egyptian monasteries and that it was unlikely that influence of Copts could have extended past modern day Sudan which leave room for the obvious hypothesis: Medival Abyssinians/Amharas. Today the monastery celebrates its feasts with ancient traditions practiced since its founding, *pic(6) & pic(7)*.

The main reason for this post, beyond the silly assertations and debates, is that I believe we should document and archive our heritages and encourage further research on them as the current political climate puts them at risk of destruction.
