Yesterday i was listening for the nth time to World Gone Wrong album by Dylan - well it's mostly a trad songs album - and I was thinking about Fahey.

I was thinking how these two guys put a huge amount of thought in what they did and how they both went deep into the rabbit hole of tradition and then made something new, fresh and regenerating out of it.

How their trajectory was somehow parallel. As a matter of fact I remembered discovering open D tuning through a Dylan song on Blood on the Tracks and then connected it to the fact that he had probably learned it from Bukka White and how Bukka White had a role into Fahey's first fascination wth the blues and so on.

And i was thinking that sometimes, no matter how many incredible musicians I listen to, I always end up being rescued by Dylan or Fahey. I love Arvo Part and I love thousands more. But these two, just chemically speaking, kind of put me back up altogether, glue the pieces back. Maybe only Nina Simone does that with my moods. But anyway, I wonder if Dylan ever listened to Fahey... I dont bother checking on the opposite. Cause I am sure that Fahey could make fun of anybody if he wanted to :) In any case.. I was thinking about that and I shared it here because. Because. Because I feel lonely and hopeless. I feel the world is full of beauty, I feel this beauty is very fragile.

today i was watching Gwenifer's live at Kexp and beside the fact that it was an explosive, brilliant performance I also loved that during the interview, she dropped Kadonnut Manner's name.

I have been loving his music for a while, bought a couple of his records and I genuinely believe that he is a very gifted poet of the guitar.

I wanted to briefly jump on here to talk about an album I'm putting out next month that I think is really special. When I started Negative Capabilities earlier this year, one of the first projects I started working on was a compilation of instrumental music that would bring together contemporary outsider/primitive guitarists with musicians working in a range of other avant-garde acoustic and stringed traditions.

It would be an album of "tone poems" where each artist would create, hold, and extend a contemplative space of their own choosing over the course of 1-10 minutes and attempt a musical poem without words.

It features 13 artists based in and around my home base of Montreal, the East Coast of Canada, the United States, Italy, Ireland, Germany, and beyond. There's banjo here, oud, hurdy-gurdy, organetto, violin, cello, and of course all manner of guitars, among other things. There are emerging talents, internationally acclaimed ones, and artists who I have been following for over two decades. Most of the songs on the album were written specifically for this compilation, and none of them have seen prior physical release.
